Hadith 13098
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِهْقَانَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الرَّجُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a person from eating and drinking with the left hand.
Hadith 13099
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ وَجَعَلَ ذَلِكَ صَدَاقَهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), daughter of Huyayy, and made her freedom itself her dowry.
Hadith 13100
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، وَأَبُو قَطَنٍ ، قَالَا : حدثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ أَبُو قَطَنٍ : مُتَعَمِّدًا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever deliberately attributes a false statement to me, he should make his abode in Hell.
Hadith 13101
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن الحسن الواسطي وَهُوَ الْمُزَنِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُصْعَبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " أُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَمْرٌ ، فَجَعَلَ يَقْسِمُهُ بِمِكْتَلٍ وَاحِدٍ ، وَأَنَا رَسُولُهُ بِهِ حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلَ يَأْكُلُ وَهُوَ مُقْعٍ أَكْلًا ذَرِيعًا ، فَعَرَفْتُ فِي أَكْلِهِ الْجُوعَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once some dates were brought as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to distribute them from a bag, and I was the messenger of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in this task, until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished. Then he himself sat squatting and began to eat the dates quickly, from which I realized the hunger of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 13102
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ لِنَعْلَيْهِ قِبَالَانِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the blessed sandals of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had two straps.
Hadith 13103
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، وَثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، وَعُثْمَانَ كَانُوا يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ الْقِرَاءَةَ بِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 2 " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the three Caliphs (may Allah be pleased with them) used to begin the recitation in prayer with "Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil 'Alamin."
Hadith 13104
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ قَامَ ، حَتَّى نَقُولَ قَدْ أَوْهَمَ ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ السَّجْدَةِ جَلَسَ بَيْنَ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ حَتَّى نَقُولَ قَدْ أَوْهَمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from prostration or bowing, and he would pause between the two for such a long time that we would begin to think that perhaps the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had forgotten.
Hadith 13105
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أخبرنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَصَوْتُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ أَشَدُّ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مِنْ فِئَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the army, the voice of Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) is heavier than many of the polytheists.
Hadith 13106
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : كَيْفَ كَانَ شَعَرُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : كَانَ شَعَرًا رَجِلًا ، لَيْسَ بِالسَّبْطِ وَلَا بِالْجَعْدِ ، بَيْنَ أُذُنَيْهِ وَعَاتِقَيْهِ " .
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) about the hair of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he replied that the hair of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was lightly curly, neither very curly nor very straight, and it would reach between his ears and his shoulders.
Hadith 13107
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ جَارِيَةً خَرَجَتْ عَلَيْهَا أَوْضَاحٌ ، فَأَخَذَهَا يَهُودِيٌّ ، فَرَضَخَ رَأْسَهَا وَأَخَذَ مَا عَلَيْهَا ، فَأُتِيَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبِهَا رَمَقٌ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ قَتَلَكِ ؟ فُلَانٌ ؟ " فَقَالَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا لَا ، فَقَالَ : " فُلَانٌ ؟ " فَقَالَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا : لَا ، قَالَ : " فَفُلَانٌ الْيَهُودِيُّ ؟ " فَقَالَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا : نَعَمْ ، فَأَخَذَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَرَضَخَ رَأْسَهُ بَيْنَ حَجَرَيْنِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jew killed an Ansari girl for the sake of the jewelry she was wearing, and crushed her head by repeatedly striking her with stones. When the girl was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), there was still a little life left in her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the name of a man and asked her, "Did so-and-so kill you?" She indicated with her head, "No." The same happened the second time. The third time, she said, "Yes!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had that Jew killed between two stones.
Hadith 13108
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ ، إِلَّا أَنَّ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : " فَاعْتَرَفَ الْيَهُودِيُّ " .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 13109
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ الْجَارُودِ بْنِ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الْحَجَّاجِ ، عَنِ الْجَارُودِ بْنِ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ تَطَوُّعًا اسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ ، فَكَبَّرَ لِلصَّلَاةِ ، ثُمَّ خَلَّى عَنْ رَاحِلَتِهِ ، فَصَلَّى حَيْثُمَا تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wished to offer voluntary prayers during travel on his camel, he would say the takbeer facing the qiblah, then leave it, and whichever direction it (the camel) was facing, he would continue to pray in that direction.
Hadith 13110
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا خَرَجَ لِلْغَائِطِ أَتَيْتُهُ أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ بِإِدَاوَةٍ وَعَنَزَةٍ ، فَاسْتَنْجَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to relieve himself, I would present water and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform istinja with it.
Hadith 13111
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حدثنا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " وَقَّتَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي قَصِّ الشَّارِبِ ، وَتَقْلِيمِ الأَظْفارِ ، وَحَلْقِ الْعَانَةِ فِي كُلِّ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا مَرَّةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set for us the period of forty days for trimming the moustache, cutting the nails, and removing the pubic hair.
Hadith 13112
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُؤْتَى بِأَنْعَمِ أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُصْبَغُ فِي النَّارِ صَبْغَةً ثُمَّ يُقَالُ لَهُ : يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ ، هَلْ رَأَيْتَ خَيْرًا قَطُّ ؟ هَلْ مَرَّ بِكَ نَعِيمٌ قَطُّ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : لَا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَبِّ ، وَيُؤْتَى بِأَشَدِّ النَّاسِ فِي الدُّنْيَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَيُصْبَغُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ صَبْغَةً ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ هَلْ رَأَيْتَ بُؤْسًا قَطُّ ؟ هَلْ مَرَّ بِكَ شِدَّةٌ قَطُّ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : لَا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَبِّ ، مَا مَرَّ بِي بُؤْسٌ قَطُّ ، وَلَا رَأَيْتُ شِدَّةً قَطُّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, a man from among the people of Hell will be brought who had lived in great luxuries in the world. He will be dipped once in Hell, then it will be asked: O son of Adam! Have you ever seen any good? Has any blessing ever passed by you? He will say: By my Lord! I swear, never. After that, a man from among the people of Paradise will be brought who had lived in great hardships in the world. He will be dipped once in Paradise, and then it will be asked: O son of Adam! Have you ever seen any distress? Has any hardship ever passed by you? He will say: By my Lord! I swear, never. No distress has ever come to me and I have never seen any hardship.
Hadith 13113
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، قَالَ : تَلَقَّيْنَا أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حِينَ قَدِمَ مِنَ الشَّامِ ، " فَلَقِينَاهُ بِعَيْنِ التَّمْرِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ لِغَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ ، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ : إِنَّكَ تُصَلِّي إِلَى غَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ ، فَقَالَ : لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مَا فَعَلْتُ " .
Anas bin Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from Syria, we met him; we encountered him at a place called ‘Ain al-Qamar. At that time, he was performing prayer on his mount without facing the Qiblah. We said to him, “Are you performing prayer without facing the Qiblah?” He replied, “If I had not seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) doing so (in voluntary prayers), I would not have done so (in voluntary prayers) either.”
Hadith 13114
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَالِبٍ الْخَيَّاطُ ، قَالَ : شَهِدْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةِ رَجُلٍ ، فَقَامَ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ ، فَلَمَّا رُفِعَ أُتِيَ بِجِنَازَةِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ أَوْ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ : يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ ، هَذِهِ جِنَازَةُ فُلَانَةَ ابْنَةِ فُلَانٍ ، فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهَا ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا ، فَقَامَ وَسَطَهَا ، وَفِينَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْعَدَوِيُّ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى اخْتِلَافَ قِيَامِهِ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ ، قَالَ : يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ ، هَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ ؟ يَقُومُ مِنَ الرَّجُلِ حَيْثُ قُمْتَ ؟ وَمِنْ الْمَرْأَةِ حَيْثُ قُمْتَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْنَا الْعَلَاءُ فَقَالَ : احْفَظُوا .
It is narrated that when the funeral of a man was brought before Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he stood at the head of the bier, and when the funeral of a woman was brought, he stood in front of the bier but a little lower. After completing the funeral prayer, Alaa bin Ziyad (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "O Abu Hamzah! The way I saw you standing, did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also stand like this for the funerals of men and women?" He replied, "Yes!" Then Alaa turned towards us and said, "Preserve this."
Hadith 13115
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ سَلْمٍ الْعَلَوِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ الْقَرْعُ مِنْ أَحَبِّ الطَّعَامِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ كَانَ الْقَرْعُ يُعْجِبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَكَّ يَزِيدُ فَأُتِيَ بِقَصْعَةٍ فِيهَا قَرْعٌ ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُدْخِلُ أُصْبُعَيْهِ فِي الْمَرَقِ يَتْبَعُ بِهِمَا الْقَرْعَ ، السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى ، فَرَّقَ بَيْنَهُمَا ثُمَّ ضَمَّهُمَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I brought some gourd in a bowl to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was very fond of gourd, so he began to search for it with his fingers.
Hadith 13116
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَتَّابًا مَوْلَى ابْنِ هُرْمُزَ ، يَقُولُ : صَحِبْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ فِي سَفِينَةٍ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِي هَذِهِ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the condition of listening and obeying, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) added the restriction of "as much as you are able."
Hadith 13117
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ : فَلَمَّا دَفَنَّا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَجَعْنَا ، قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ : يَا أَنَسُ أَطَابَتْ أَنْفُسُكُمْ أَنْ دَفَنْتُمْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي التُّرَابِ وَرَجَعْتُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when we returned after completing the burial of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "O Anas! Did your hearts accept that you buried the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) under the earth and then returned yourselves?"
Hadith 13118
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يزيد ، أخبرنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ حَرَامٍ ، فَأَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَأُمَّ حَرَامٍ خَلْفَنَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I offered prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the house of Hazrat Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made me stand on his right side and Hazrat Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her) stand behind us.
Hadith 13119
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، قَالَ عَفَّانُ ، عن هَمَّامٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ابْنُ أَخِي أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَطْرُقُ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلًا ، كَانَ يَقْدَمُ غُدْوَةً أَوْ عَشِيَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not return to his home at night after traveling without prior notice; rather, he would arrive in the morning or at noon.
Hadith 13120
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ أَبُو الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " قَنَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهْرًا بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ ، يَدْعُو عَلَى رِعْلٍ وَذَكْوَانَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Qunoot Nazilah after bowing in the Fajr prayer for a month and continued to invoke curses upon the tribes of Ri'l, Dhakwan, and 'Usayyah.
Hadith 13121
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَرَأَى حَبْلًا مَمْدُودًا بَيْنَ سَارِيَتَيْنِ ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالُوا : فُلَانَةُ تُصَلِّي ، فَإِذَا غُلِبَتْ تَعَلَّقَتْ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " لِتُصَلِّ مَا عَقَلَتْ ، فَإِذَا غُلِبَتْ فَلْتَنَمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once entered the mosque and saw a rope hanging between two pillars. He asked, "What is this rope?" The people replied, "This is the rope of such-and-such woman; when she feels lazy or tired while praying, she ties herself to it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Untie it." Then he said, "When any one of you prays, he should pray as long as he remains energetic, and when he feels lazy or tired, he should stop."
Hadith 13122
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ : الْمُهَاجِرُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْنَا مِثْلَ قَوْمٍ قَدِمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَحْسَنَ بَذْلًا مِنْ كَثِيرٍ ، وَلَا أَحْسَنَ مُوَاسَاةً فِي قَلِيلٍ ، قَدْ كَفَوْنَا الْمَؤْنَةَ ، وَأَشْرَكُونَا فِي الْمَهْنَأ ، فَقَدْ خَشِينَا أَنْ يَذْهَبُوا بِالْأَجْرِ كُلِّهِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَلَّا مَا أَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِهِ ، وَدَعَوْتُمْ اللَّهَ لَهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Muhajir Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! The people (Ansar) to whom we have come, we have not found any nation better than them in sharing our sorrows in times of scarcity, nor any nation more generous in spending in times of abundance. They have borne our burdens and made us partners in everything they possess, to the extent that we have begun to think that all the reward and recompense will go to them. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: No, as long as you continue to thank them and pray to Allah for them.
Hadith 13123
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا قَدِمَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ مُهَاجِرًا ، آخَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ سَعْدِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ سَعْدٌ لِي مَالٌ ، فَنِصْفُهُ لَكَ ، وَلِي امْرَأَتَانِ ، فَانْظُرْ أَحَبَّهُمَا إِلَيْكَ حَتَّى أُطَلِّقَهَا ، فَإِذَا انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا تَزَوَّجْهَا ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ : بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ ، وَمَالِكَ ، دُلُّونِي عَلَى السُّوقِ ، قَالَ : فَمَا رَجَعَ يَوْمَئِذٍ حَتَّى رَجَعَ بِشَيْءٍ قَدْ أَصَابَهُ مِنَ السُّوقِ ، قَالَ : وَفَقَدَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيَّامًا ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ وَعَلَيْهِ وَضَرُ صُفْرَةٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَهْيَمْ ؟ " قَالَ : تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، قَالَ : " مَا سُقْتَ إِلَيْهَا ؟ " قَالَ نَوَاةً مِنْ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ قَالَ : وَزْنَ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah Munawwarah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) established brotherhood between him and Hazrat Sa’d bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I will divide all my wealth into two parts, and I have two wives; I will divorce one of them, and when her waiting period is over, you may marry her.” Hazrat Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “May Allah bless your wealth and your family for you. Just show me the way to the market.” So he showed Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) the way. He went, and when he returned, he had some cheese and ghee which he had saved as profit. After some time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) and there were yellow marks on him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “What are these marks?” He replied, “I have married an Ansari woman.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “How much dowry did you give?” He replied, “Gold equal to the weight of a date stone.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Give a wedding feast, even if it is only with one goat.”
Hadith 13124
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ إِذَا حَدَّثَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا ، فَفَرَغَ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Muhammad, may Allah have mercy on him, says that whenever Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated a hadith from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, he would conclude by saying, "or as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said."
Hadith 13125
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ كَانُوا يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ قِرَاءَتَهُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ بِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 2 .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the three Caliphs (may Allah be pleased with them) used to begin the recitation in prayer with "Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil 'alamin."
Hadith 13126
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَخَفِّ أَوْ أَتَمِّ النَّاسِ صَلَاةً وَأَوْجَزِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most complete and concise in prayer among the people.
Hadith 13127
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمُهَاجِرُونَ يَحْفِرُونَ الْخَنْدَقَ فِي غَدَاةٍ بَارِدَةٍ ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ خَدَمٌ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّمَا الْخَيْرُ خَيْرُ الْآخِرَهْ فَاغْفِرْ لِلْأَنْصَارِ وَالْمُهَاجِرَهْ " قَالَ : فَأَجَابُوهُ : نَحْنُ الَّذِينَ بَايَعُوا مُحَمَّدًا عَلَى الْجِهَادِ مَا بَقِينَا أَبَدًا أَو َلَا نَفِرُّ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out on a cold day and saw that the Muhajireen and Ansar were digging the trench. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! The real goodness is the goodness of the Hereafter, so forgive the Ansar and the Muhajireen. In response, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) recited this verse: "We are the ones who pledged allegiance to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) for jihad as long as we are alive."
Hadith 13128
رقم الحديث: 12878 (حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : أَسْلَمَ نَاسٌ مِنْ عُرَيْنَةَ ، فَاجْتَوَوْا الْمَدِينَةَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ خَرَجْتُمْ إِلَى ذَوْدٍ لَنَا ، فَشَرِبْتُمْ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا " قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ : وَقَالَ قَتَادَةُ : عَنْ أَنَسٍ " وَأَبْوَالِهَا " فَفَعَلُوا فَلَمَّا صَحُّوا كَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِمْ ، وَقَتَلُوا رَاعِيَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُؤْمِنًا أَوْ مُسْلِمًا ، وَسَاقُوا ذَوْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهَرَبُوا مُحَارِبِينَ ، فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي آثَارِهِمْ ، فَأُخِذُوا ، فَقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَأَرْجُلَهُمْ ، وَسَمَرَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ ، وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي الْحَرَّةِ حَتَّى مَاتُوا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people from the tribe of 'Uraina became Muslim, but the climate of Madinah did not suit them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them that if you go to our camels and drink their milk, perhaps you will recover. So they did so, but when they became healthy, they reverted to disbelief and turned back from Islam. They killed the Muslim shepherd of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and drove away the camels of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent companions after them, they were captured and brought before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered their hands and feet to be cut off from opposite sides, their eyes to be branded with hot irons, and they were left in rocky areas until they died.
Hadith 13129
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَدِمَ رَهْطٌ مِنْ عُرَيْنَةَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاجْتَوَوْا الْمَدِينَةَ ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ، وَذَكَرَ أَيْضًا فِي حَدِيثِهِ ، قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ : حَدَّثَ قَتَادَةُ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ : " وَأَبْوَالِهَا " .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 13130
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتَقَارِبَةً ، وَصَلَاةُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، حَتَّى بَسَطَ عُمَرُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that all the prayers of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were almost equal in length, and similarly, the prayers of Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) were also so, but Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) started making the Fajr prayer lengthy.
Hadith 13131
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ فِي بَيْتِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ نَأْتِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَأَحَدُنَا يَرَى مَوَاقِعَ نَبْلِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that we used to perform the Maghrib prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then one of us would go to the people of Banu Salamah, and at that time he could still clearly see the place where his arrow would fall.
Hadith 13132
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي إِذْ سَمِعَ بُكَاءَ صَبِيٍّ ، فَتَجَوَّزَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ ، فَظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ إِنَّمَا خَفَّفَ مِنْ أَجْلِ الصَّبِيِّ أَنَّ أُمَّهُ كَانَتْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the sound of a child crying while leading the prayer, so he shortened the prayer. We understood that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had shortened the prayer because of the child's mother; this was an expression of compassion for the child.
Hadith 13133
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ عَنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، فَقَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَعَوَّذُ ، يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَالْهَرَمِ ، وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ ، وَفِتْنَةِ الدَّجَّالِ ، وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " .
Humaid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that a person asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) about the punishment of the grave, so he replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to seek Allah’s protection, saying: O Allah! I seek refuge in You from laziness, old age, cowardice, miserliness, the trial of Dajjal, and the punishment of the grave.
Hadith 13134
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، وَعَرَضَ رَجُلٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَحَدَّثَهُ ، فَحَبَسَهُ بَعْدَمَا أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، حَتَّى نَعَسَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the time for prayer arrived while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was conversing privately with a man in the mosque. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up for prayer, some people had already fallen asleep.
Hadith 13135
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَلِيَهُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ وَالْأَنْصَارُ ، لِيَحْفَظُوا عَنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked that the Muhajirun and Ansar should stand together near him so that they could learn the matters of prayer.
Hadith 13136
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ وَكَانَ بَيْنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبَيْنَ نِسَائِهِ شَيْءٌ ، فَجَعَلَ يَرُدُّ بَعْضُهُنَّ عَلَى بَعْضٍ ، فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ : احث يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، احْثُ فِي أَفْوَاهِهِنَّ التُّرَابَ ، وَاخْرُجْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the time for prayer approached, and at that time there was some discord between the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the pure wives, and the pure wives were defending each other. Meanwhile, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Put dust in their mouths and come outside for prayer."

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَهُوَ مَعْصُوبُ الرَّأْسِ ، قَالَ : فَتَلَقَّاهُ الْأَنْصَارُ وَنِسَاؤُهُمْ وَأَبْنَاؤُهُمْ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ بِوُجُوهِ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَقَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكُمْ " وَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ قَدْ قَضَوْا مَا عَلَيْهِمْ ، وَبَقِيَ مَا عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَأَحْسِنُوا إِلَى مُحْسِنِهِمْ ، وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and met the Ansar. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I love you. Accept the good deeds of the righteous among the Ansar and overlook the faults of their sinners, for they have fulfilled their duty and their right remains."
