Hadith 12380
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hell will continuously say, "Is there any more? Bring more," until the Lord of the worlds will place His foot in it. At that time, its parts will draw together and contract with each other, and it will say, "By Your honor! Enough, enough." In the same way, there will remain extra space in Paradise, until Allah creates another creation and settles them in the remaining part of Paradise.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Utban (may Allah be pleased with him) began to complain about his eyes. He sent a message to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), mentioning his difficulty and requested, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), please come to my house and offer prayer so that I may make that place my prayer area." Accordingly, one day the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to his house with some of his companions (may Allah be pleased with them). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up to pray, and the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) began to talk among themselves and started mentioning the troubles caused by the hypocrites. They considered Malik bin Dukhaytham to be the most involved in this. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, he said, "Does he not bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" A man said, "Why not, but it is not from his heart." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, the fire of Hell will never consume him."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to be pleased with good dreams and would sometimes ask, "Has any of you seen a dream?" If someone had seen a dream, he would ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for its interpretation. If there was nothing distressing in it, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would also be pleased with that. In this context, a woman came and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I saw in a dream as if I entered Paradise. There I heard a voice that made Paradise tremble. Suddenly, I saw that so-and-so son of so-and-so and so-and-so son of so-and-so were being brought in." While saying this, she counted the names of twelve men whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had previously sent on an expedition. The woman stated that when they were brought there, the clothes on their bodies had turned black and their veins were swollen. Someone said to them, "Take these people to the river Sadkh or the river Bidakh." So they were immersed in it, and when they came out, their faces were shining like the full moon of the fourteenth night. Then golden chairs were brought, and they sat on them. Then a tray was brought in which there were fresh dates. They began to eat those dates, and whenever they turned a date over, they would find fruit to eat as they wished, and I also kept eating with them. After some time, a man from that army came with the good news of victory and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Such and such happened with us, and so-and-so and so-and-so were martyred." While saying this, he counted the same twelve men whose names the woman had mentioned. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Call that woman to me again." When she came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, "Describe your dream in front of this man." She described it, and he said, "It happened exactly as she has described to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a marriage proposal for Hazrat Julaibib (may Allah be pleased with him) to the father of an Ansari woman. He said, "Let me first consult the girl's mother." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Very well." That man went to his wife and mentioned the matter to her. She immediately refused, saying, "By God! Never! Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not find anyone other than Julaibib? We have already refused such and such proposals." Meanwhile, the girl was listening from behind her veil. After mutual consultation, when the man was about to go and inform the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the girl said, "Will you reject the word of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is pleased with this, then you should arrange the marriage." By saying this, she opened her parents' eyes, and they said, "You are right." Thus, her father went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "If you are pleased with this proposal, then we are also pleased." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I am pleased." Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married the girl to Julaibib. After a short time, there was an attack on the people of Madinah. Julaibib also went out mounted. After the battle, people saw that he had been martyred, and around him were several bodies of polytheists whom he had killed single-handedly. Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "I have seen that girl; she was the lady of the most generous household in Madinah."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from Banu Tamim came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I am a very wealthy man, with family and relatives. Tell me how I should spend and on what I should spend?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Give the zakat of your wealth, for that will purify your wealth. Maintain ties with your close relatives. Give the needy, neighbors, and the poor their due rights, and do not be extravagant." He said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Is this sufficient for me? When I hand over the zakat of my wealth to your envoy, will I be absolved in the sight of Allah and His Messenger?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes! When you give the zakat to my envoy, you have fulfilled your obligation, and you will receive its reward, and the sin will be upon the one who changes it."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, the climate there was hot, due to which people were afflicted with fever. One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque and saw that people were performing prayer while sitting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The reward for performing prayer while sitting is half of that for performing it while standing." Upon this, people hurried to stand up and perform the prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house and lay down for a siesta. Due to the heat, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to sweat. My mother, seeing this, brought a bottle and started collecting his sweat in it. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up, he asked, "Umm Sulaym! What are you doing?" She replied, "We will mix your sweat into our perfume, and it will be the best fragrance of all."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Hazrat Baseesah (may Allah be pleased with her) as a spy to bring news of Abu Sufyan’s army. When she returned, there was no one in the house except me and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went outside and spoke to the people about this matter and said: “We are setting out in search of the caravan; whoever has a mount should go with us.” Some people asked for permission to go to the upper part of Madinah to bring their mounts, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “No, whoever has a mount should go (we will not wait).” Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out with his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and reached the wells of Badr before the polytheists. Upon arrival, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “None of you should advance towards anything without my permission.” When the polytheists drew near, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Rush towards the Paradise whose width is equal to the heavens and the earth.” Hearing this, Umair bin Humaam Ansari said: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Is Paradise’s width equal to the heavens and the earth?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Yes!” Upon this, he said: “Wonderful! Wonderful!” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: “What makes you say ‘Wonderful! Wonderful!’?” He replied: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! By Allah, it is only in the hope that I may become one of its people.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You are among the people of Paradise.” Then Umair took out some dates from his quiver and began to eat them. Suddenly, he thought to himself: “If I remain alive until I finish eating these dates, that would be a long life.” So he threw the dates aside, plunged into the battlefield, and fought so much that he was finally martyred.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when this verse was revealed: "O you who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet," Hazrat Thabit bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him)—whose voice was naturally loud—said, "My voice is louder than the voice of the Prophet (peace be upon him), so all my deeds have been wasted and I have become a person of Hell." Thinking this, he sat at home in grief. One day, the Prophet (peace be upon him) inquired about his absence, so some people went to him and said, "The Prophet (peace be upon him) was asking about your absence. What is the matter?" He replied, "I am the one whose voice is louder than the voice of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and when I speak, I speak loudly. Therefore, all my deeds have been wasted and I have become a person of Hell." The people conveyed this to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "No, rather he is of the people of Paradise." Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that he used to walk among us and we were certain that he was of the people of Paradise. On the day of the Battle of Yamama, some disorder occurred in our ranks, so Hazrat Thabit bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) came; at that time, he had applied perfume to his body and was wearing a shroud, and he said, "You have returned badly to your companions." Saying this, he advanced so far while fighting that he was eventually martyred.

Thabit says that once we were sitting with Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he wrote a letter to his family and said, "O group of reciters! Bear witness to this." I did not like this, so I said, "O Abu Hamza! Would it not be better if you mentioned their names?" He replied, "If I have called you reciters, there is no harm in it. Shall I not tell you about those brothers of mine whom we used to call reciters in the blessed era of the Prophet (peace be upon him)? They were seventy individuals, who, when night fell, would go to their teacher in Madinah Munawwarah and spend the whole night reciting. In the morning, those who had the strength would drink sweet water and go to cut wood. Those who could not afford it would gather together, buy a goat, slaughter and clean it, and in the morning hang it near the chambers of the Prophet (peace be upon him). When Hazrat Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent them. They reached a tribe of Banu Sulaim, among them was my maternal uncle 'Haram.' He said to their leader, 'Allow me to go and tell them that we do not wish to harm them, so that they may let us pass.' With permission, he conveyed this message to them. While he was delivering this message, a man came from the front with a spear and pierced him through. When the spear was thrust into his stomach, he fell saying, 'Allahu Akbar, by the Lord of the Ka'bah! I have succeeded.' Then they were attacked, and not a single man among them survived. I have never seen the Prophet (peace be upon him) as grieved over any incident as he was over this one, and I saw that the Prophet (peace be upon him) would raise his hands in the Fajr prayer and supplicate against them. Some time later, Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me, 'Shall I tell you the whereabouts of the killer of Haram?' I said, 'Certainly, tell me, may Allah do such and such to him.' He said, 'Wait, for he has become a Muslim.'"

The staff of one of the men became illuminated, and they began to walk in its light. It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to Hazrat Sa’d bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) and, after seeking permission, said, “Peace and mercy of Allah be upon you.” Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) replied in a low voice—so low that it did not reach the ears of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) greeted three times, and each time Hazrat Sa’d replied in such a way that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) could not hear. Consequently, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned back. Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) ran after him and said, “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! May my parents be sacrificed for you. Every time you greeted, I heard it with my own ears and replied, but I did not let you hear (I kept my voice low). I wanted to gain as much of your prayer for peace and blessings as possible.” Then he took the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) into his house and presented raisins. After the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate them, he said, “May righteous people continue to eat your food, may the angels of mercy continue to pray for you, and may those who fast break their fast with you.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had conquered Khaybar, Hajjaj bin Ghalat (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I have some wealth and family in Makkah Mukarramah. I intend to go to them (so that I may bring them here). Do I have your permission to spread any word on your behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him permission to say whatever he wished. So he reached Makkah Mukarramah and went to his wife and said to her, "Gather together whatever you have and give it to me. I want to buy the spoils of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions, for they have been thoroughly massacred and all their wealth and property has been plundered." This news spread throughout Makkah, the Muslims were devastated, and the polytheists began to celebrate with great joy. Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) also heard this news, so he fell down and did not have the strength to stand. Then he called one of his sons, "Qutham," and, lying on his back, seated him on his chest and began to recite this verse: "My dear son Qutham resembles the one with the fragrant nose, who is the son of those raised in luxury and comfort, even if someone's nose is covered in dust." Then he sent a servant to Hajjaj bin Ghalat (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "Alas! What kind of news have you brought and what are you saying? What Allah has promised is much better than the news you have brought." Hajjaj said to the servant, "Convey my greetings to Abu al-Fadl (Hazrat Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him) and tell him to provide me with an opportunity for privacy in one of his houses so that I may come to him, for the news is such that he will be pleased." When the servant returned and reached the door of the house, he said, "O Abu al-Fadl! Rejoice!" Hearing this, Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) jumped up with joy and kissed him between his eyes. The servant told him what Hajjaj had said, so he set him free. After a short while, Hajjaj came to him and informed him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had conquered Khaybar, had taken the spoils, Allah's prescribed share had been distributed among them, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had chosen Safiyyah bint Huyayy for himself and had given her the choice that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would set her free and she would become his wife, or she could return to her family. She preferred that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set her free and she become his wife. But I had come here because of my wealth "which was here" so that I could gather it and take it away. I had sought permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he had given me permission to say whatever I wished. Now you should keep this news hidden for three days, after which, if you deem it appropriate, you may mention it. After that, whatever jewelry and belongings his wife had and whatever she had gathered, she handed it all over to him, and he set off with it. After three days had passed, Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Hajjaj's wife and asked her, "What became of your husband?" She replied, "He left on such-and-such a day," and said, "O Abu al-Fadl! May Allah never disgrace you. Your distress was also very hard on us." He said, "Yes! May Allah never disgrace me, and all praise is due to Allah! What we wanted has happened. Allah has granted victory over Khaybar at the hands of His Prophet, the spoils have been distributed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has chosen Safiyyah bint Huyayy for himself. Now, if you need your husband, go to him." She said, "By Allah! I consider you truthful." He said, "Whatever I have told you is all true." Then Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) left there and passed by the gatherings of the Quraysh. They said, "Abu al-Fadl! You always receive good." He said, "All praise is due to Allah! I have received good. Hajjaj bin Ghalat informed me that Allah has granted victory over Khaybar at the hands of His Prophet, the spoils have been distributed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has chosen Safiyyah for himself, and Hajjaj had requested me to keep this news hidden for three days. He had only come here to take his wealth and belongings, then he left. Thus, the grief that was upon the Muslims, Allah turned it upon the polytheists, and the Muslims and all those who had become sorrowful in their homes came out of their homes...

Thabit (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abu Hamzah! Tell us about some strange incident in which you yourself were present and you are not narrating it from anyone else?" He replied, "Once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the Zuhr prayer and then went and sat at the place where Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) used to come to him. Then Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came and gave the adhan for Asr. Every person who had a house in Madinah Munawwarah got up and went for relieving himself and for ablution. Some Muhajireen remained who had no house in Madinah. A large vessel of water was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his palms in it, but the vessel was not spacious enough, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed only four fingers in it and said, 'Come close and perform ablution from it.' At that time, the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in the vessel. So all of them performed ablution from it, and there was not a single person left who did not perform ablution." I asked, "O Abu Hamzah! In your opinion, how many people were there?" He replied, "Between seventy and eighty."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once some fields were distributed among the Ansar. They gathered together and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a request that they be allowed to take water from a running canal, and they would pay its rent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Welcome, O Ansar! By Allah! Today, whatever you ask of me, I will give you, and whatever I ask Allah for you, Allah will surely grant it to me." Hearing this, they began to say to each other, "Take advantage of this opportunity and ask for the forgiveness of your sins." So they said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Pray to Allah for our forgiveness." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Allah! Forgive the Ansar, the children of the Ansar, and the children of the children of the Ansar."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) departed from this world, at that time in Medina, one person used to dig side graves (luhd) and another used to dig box graves (shaqq). The people thought, "We will seek goodness from our Lord and send one man to each of them; whichever one we do not find, we will leave." So they sent one man to each of them. The one who made the luhd (side grave) was found, and he dug a luhd for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was lying on his bed, which was tied with braided palm fibers, and under his blessed head was a leather pillow filled with bark. Meanwhile, some companions (may Allah be pleased with them) also arrived, among whom was Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned and sat up, and Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw that there was no cloth between the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the rope, due to which the marks of the rope had appeared on the blessed side of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Seeing this, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Umar! Why are you weeping?" He replied, "By Allah! I weep only because I wish that in the sight of Allah, you are far more honored than Caesar and Chosroes, and they are enjoying luxuries in the world, while you, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), are in the condition that I see." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Are you not pleased that for them is the world and for us is the Hereafter?" He replied, "Why not." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then it will be so."
