It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that among the Jews, when a woman was menstruating, they would neither eat nor drink with her, nor would they stay together in the same house. The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, so Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "They ask you about menstruating women. Say: It is a harm, so keep away from women during menstruation and do not approach them until they are purified." After reciting this verse in full, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You may do everything except intercourse." When the Jews learned of this, they said: "This man opposes us in every matter." Then Hazrat Usayd bin Hudair (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abbad bin Bishr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The Jews are saying such and such things, should we not even go near our wives? (So that we may completely oppose the Jews.)" Upon hearing this, the color of the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed, and we understood that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was displeased with them. Both of them also left from there, but shortly after, a gift of milk arrived for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called both of them and gave it to them to drink. In this way, they understood that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was not displeased with them. Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Hammad bin Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) would not praise the chain of narration of any hadith among his ahadith, but due to the excellence of the chain of this hadith, he praised it greatly.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the major sins, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are these—associating partners with Allah, killing unjustly, disobedience to parents, and speaking falsehood or giving false testimony.

Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "How many times did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform Hajj?" He replied, "He performed Hajj once and performed Umrah four times: one Umrah during the time of Hudaybiyyah, the second Umrah in the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah from Madinah, the third Umrah also in the month of Dhu al-Qa'dah from Ji'ranah when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed the spoils of the Battle of Hunayn, and the fourth Umrah he performed along with Hajj."

Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that we used to visit Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had a baker appointed for him. One day he said to us: "Eat, but to my knowledge, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never saw fine bread with his own eyes, nor did he ever eat a whole roasted goat."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was returning from Hudaybiyyah, signs of grief and distress were visible on the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) because they had been prevented from performing Umrah and had to sacrifice their animals at Hudaybiyyah itself. At that moment, this verse was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, We have given you a clear victory... a straight path." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Two verses have been revealed to me which are more beloved to me than the whole world." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited them. Upon hearing this, a Muslim said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Congratulations to you, for Allah has granted you this bounty. What is there for us?" Upon this, the following verse was revealed: "That He may admit the believing men and believing women to gardens... a great success."
