Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I will tell you what I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever makes pictures, Allah will punish him on the Day of Resurrection until he breathes life into those pictures, but he will never be able to do so." Hearing this, the man became very worried and the color of his face turned pale. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to him: Hey! If you cannot manage without it, then make pictures of trees and things that do not have a soul.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the husband of Sayyidah Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her) was a black-skinned Abyssinian slave whose name was Mughith. I used to see him following Sayyidah Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her) in the streets of Madinah, and his tears were flowing down his beard. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made four decisions regarding Sayyidah Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) decided that the right of wala’ (allegiance) belongs to the one who set her free; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her the choice of emancipation; and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to observe the waiting period (‘iddah). And once, someone gave something to Sayyidah Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her) as charity, and she sent a portion of it to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) as a gift. She mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said: “It is charity for her, and it is a gift for us (because the ownership has changed).”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the delegation of Banu Abdul Qais came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him), they said: "We belong to the tribe of Rabi'ah. Between us and you is the tribe of the disbelievers of Mudar, and we can only come to you during the sacred months. So tell us something by acting upon which we may enter Paradise, and we may also tell those who are behind us." The Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded them to do four things and forbade them from four things. The Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded them: "Worship Allah alone, do not associate anything with Him, fast in Ramadan, and send one-fifth of the spoils of war to the treasury (Bayt al-Mal)." And the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade them from using vessels called Duba', Hantam, Naqir, and Muzaffat (which were used for drinking alcohol and whose explanation has already been mentioned several times before). They asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Then in which vessels should we drink water?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "In leather waterskins whose mouths can be tied."

Yazid Farsi says that once, during the lifetime of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), I had the honor of seeing the Noble Prophet, the Master of both worlds, peace and blessings be upon him, in a dream. It should be noted that Yazid used to write copies of the Qur'an. He says that I mentioned this attainment of good fortune to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). He informed me that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Satan does not have the power to assume my likeness, so whoever sees me in a dream should be certain that he has indeed seen me." He asked, "Can you describe the appearance of the person you saw in your dream?" I replied, "Yes! I saw a person between two men whose body and flesh were fair with a wheatish tinge, with a beautiful smile, kohl-lined eyes, and a beautifully rounded face. His beard was full from here to here and was about to fill his entire chest." (Awf says: I do not know or remember what further description was given along with this.) Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "If you had delighted yourself with his visitation in wakefulness, perhaps you could not have described his appearance any more than this (there would be no difference)."
Hadith 3411
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that we traveled between Makkah and Madinah with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Abu Talib fell ill. Some people from the Quraysh came to visit him during his illness, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also came to visit him. There was an empty place at Abu Talib’s bedside for a man to sit, and Abu Jahl came and sat there. The people of Quraysh said to Abu Talib, “Your nephew finds fault with our gods.” Abu Talib said, “What complaint do your people have against you?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Dear uncle! I want to bring them to a word, because of which all of Arabia will obey them and all of non-Arabs will pay them tax.” They asked, “What is that word?” He said, “«لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ».” Hearing this, they stood up, dusting off their clothes and saying, “Does he want to make all the gods into one god?” Upon this, Surah Sad was revealed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited it until he reached «﴿إِنَّ هَذَا لَشَيْءٌ عُجَابٌ﴾».

My mother has passed away, she had a month of fasts due, can I make them up on her behalf? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell me, if your mother had a debt, would you pay it off or not?" She said: Of course. He said: "Then Allah's debt is more deserving of being paid."

We replied, "That of Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him)." He said, "No, in fact, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to review the Qur'an every year with Jibreel (peace be upon him), and in the year the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he reviewed it twice, and the final recitation was that of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)."
