Hadith 2436
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : أُمِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ عَلَى سَبْعٍ ، وَلَا يَكُفَّ شَعْرًا وَلَا ثَوْبًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was commanded to prostrate on seven bones, and was forbidden from gathering up clothes and hair during prayer.

Hadith 2437
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " تَزَوَّجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) while he was in the state of Ihram.

Hadith 2438
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ اشْتَرَى طَعَامًا فَلَا يَبِعْهُ حَتَّى يَسْتَوْفِيَهُ " , قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : وَأَحْسِبُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الطَّعَامِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling grain before taking possession of it. In my opinion, this applies to everything.

Hadith 2439
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " كُلُوا فِي الْقَصْعَةِ مِنْ جَوَانِبِهَا ، وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ وَسَطِهَا ، فَإِنَّ الْبَرَكَةَ تَنْزِلُ فِي وَسَطِهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat from the edges of the bowl (vessel), and do not eat from the middle, for indeed, blessing descends in the middle of the food (and spreads to all sides)."

Hadith 2440
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَحْسِبُهُ رَفَعَهُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ ، قَالَ : " سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ ، اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ ، مِلْءَ السَّمَاءِ وَمِلْءَ الْأَرْضِ ، وَمِلْءَ مَا شِئْتَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ بَعْدُ " .
It is narrated, most likely as marfu’, from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when he would raise his head from ruku’, after saying «سَمِعَ اللّٰهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ», he would say: «اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ مِلْءَ السَّمَاءِ وَمِلْءَ الْأَرْضِ وَمِلْءَ مَا شِئْتَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ بَعْدُ» “O Allah! O our Lord! All praise is for You, which fills the heavens and fills the earth and fills whatever else You will.”

Hadith 2441
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْعَوَّامِ ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنِ أبي مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " خَطَبَ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ , فَجَعَلَتْ أَمْرَهَا إِلَى الْعَبَّاسِ , فَزَوَّجَهَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a marriage proposal to Sayyidah Maymunah bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her). She entrusted her matter to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), and he married her to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hadith 2442
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادٌ , عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَتَلَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ ، فَأَرْسَلُوا رَسُولًا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْرَمُونَ الدِّيَةَ بِجِيفَتِهِ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهُ لَخَبِيثٌ ، خَبِيثُ الدِّيَةِ ، خَبِيثُ الْجِيفَةِ " , فَخَلَّى بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the day of the Battle of the Trench, the Muslims killed a man from among the polytheists. The polytheists began to offer wealth and riches to obtain his corpse, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Hand over his corpse to them as it is; it is an impure corpse and its blood money is also impure." Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not take anything from them in exchange for it.

Hadith 2443
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادٌ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَتَبَ كِتَابًا بَيْنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ , وَالْأَنْصَارِ : " أَنْ يَعْقِلُوا مَعَاقِلَهُمْ ، وَأَنْ يَفْدُوا عَانِيَهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ، وَالْإِصْلَاحِ بَيْنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wrote this document between the Muhajirun and the Ansar: "They should pay their blood money, pay ransom for their captives in a good manner, and strive for reconciliation among the Muslims."

Hadith 2445
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَى عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : تَنَفَّلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَيْفَهُ ذَا الْفَقَارِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي رَأَى فِيهِ الرُّؤْيَا يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ، فَقَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ فِي سَيْفِي ذِي الْفَقَارِ فَلًّا ، فَأَوَّلْتُهُ ، فَلًّا يَكُونُ فِيكُمْ ، وَرَأَيْتُ أَنِّي مُرْدِفٌ كَبْشًا ، فَأَوَّلْتُهُ ، كَبْشَ الْكَتِيبَةِ ، وَرَأَيْتُ أَنِّي فِي دِرْعٍ حَصِينَةٍ ، فَأَوَّلْتُهَا : الْمَدِينَةَ ، وَرَأَيْتُ بَقَرًا تُذْبَحُ ، فَبَقَرٌ وَاللَّهِ خَيْرٌ ، فَبَقَرٌ وَاللَّهِ خَيْرٌ " , فَكَانَ الَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) awarded his sword—which was named Dhu’l-Fiqar—as a prize (to Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him) on the day of the Battle of Badr. This was the same sword about which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had seen a dream on the occasion of the Battle of Uhud, and he said: “I saw some signs of breakage in my sword Dhu’l-Fiqar, and I interpreted this as a sign of breakage among you. I also saw that I was carrying a ram behind me, and I interpreted this as the ram of the army. Then I saw myself in a strong fortress, which I interpreted as Madinah Munawwarah. I also saw a cow being slaughtered. By Allah! The cow is good, by Allah! The cow is good.” Thus, it happened just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had seen in the dream.

Hadith 2446
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ قَدْرَ مَا يَسْمَعُهُ مَنْ فِي الْحُجْرَةِ ، وَهُوَ فِي الْبَيْتِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite (the Qur'an) at night in his house in such a voice that if anyone was present in the room, they would be able to hear it.

Hadith 2447
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ الْخَبَرُ كَالْمُعَايَنَةِ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَخْبَرَ مُوسَى بِمَا صَنَعَ قَوْمُهُ فِي الْعِجْلِ ، فَلَمْ يُلْقِ الْأَلْوَاحَ ، فَلَمَّا عَايَنَ مَا صَنَعُوا ، أَلْقَى الْأَلْوَاحَ فَانْكَسَرَتْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is heard is not like what is seen. That is why, when Allah Almighty informed Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) that his people had started worshipping the calf, he did not throw down the tablets. But when he saw his people doing so with his own eyes, he threw down the tablets of the Torah and they broke."

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : أَيُّكُمْ رَأَى الْكَوْكَبَ الَّذِي انْقَضَّ الْبَارِحَةَ ؟ قُلْتُ : أَنَا ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُ : أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ فِي صَلَاةٍ وَلَكِنِّي لُدِغْتُ , قَالَ : وَكَيْفَ فَعَلْتَ ؟ قُلْتُ : اسْتَرْقَيْتُ , قَالَ : وَمَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ؟ قُلْتُ : حَدِيثٌ حَدَّثَنَاهُ الشَّعْبِيُّ ، عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : لَا رُقْيَةَ إِلَّا مِنْ عَيْنٍ أَوْ حُمَةٍ . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) فَقَالَ فَقَالَ سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جُبَيْرٍ : قَدْ أَحْسَنَ مَنْ انْتَهَى إِلَى مَا سَمِعَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " عُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ الْأُمَمُ ، فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ وَمَعَهُ الرَّهْطَ ، وَالنَّبِيَّ وَمَعَهُ الرَّجُلَ والرجلين ، وَالنَّبِيَّ وَلَيْسَ مَعَهُ أَحَدٌ ، إِذْ رُفِعَ لِي سَوَادٌ عَظِيمٌ ، فَقُلْتُ : هَذِهِ أُمَّتِي ، فَقِيلَ : هَذَا مُوسَى وَقَوْمُهُ ، وَلَكِنْ انْظُرْ إِلَى الْأُفُقِ ، فَإِذَا سَوَادٌ عَظِيمٌ ، ثُمَّ قِيلَ لي : انْظُرْ إِلَى هَذَا الْجَانِبِ الْآخَرِ ، فَإِذَا سَوَادٌ عَظِيمٌ ، فَقِيلَ : هَذِهِ أُمَّتُكَ ، وَمَعَهُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا ، يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ وَلَا عَذَابٍ " , ثُمَّ نَهَضَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَخَلَ ، فَخَاضَ الْقَوْمُ فِي ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالُوا : مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ وَلَا عَذَابٍ ؟ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : لَعَلَّهُمْ الَّذِينَ صَحِبُوا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : لَعَلَّهُمْ الَّذِينَ وُلِدُوا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ ، وَلَمْ يُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا قَطُّ ، وَذَكَرُوا أَشْيَاءَ ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ تَخُوضُونَ فِيهِ ؟ " , فَأَخْبَرُوهُ بِمَقَالَتِهِمْ ، فَقَالَ : " هُمْ الَّذِينَ لَا يَكْتَوُونَ ، وَلَا يَسْتَرْقُونَ ، وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ ، وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ " , فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا مِنْهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " أَنْتَ مِنْهُمْ " , ثُمَّ قَامَ الْآخَرُ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا مِنْهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ " .
Husayn bin Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I was present with Sa'id bin Jubayr (may Allah have mercy on him), and he said: Has any of you seen a star fall during the night? I replied: I have seen it, I was not in prayer at that time, but rather, I had been stung by a scorpion. He asked: Then what did you do? I replied: I performed ruqyah (incantation) on it. He asked: Why did you do that? I replied: Because of the hadith which Imam Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated to us from Sayyiduna Buraydah al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no ruqyah except for the evil eye or a sting." Sa'id bin Jubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Whoever makes the narrations he has heard his ultimate reference, this is the best thing. Then he said: Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated to us the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Various nations were presented before me. I saw a prophet with a group, a prophet with one or two men, and a prophet with no one with him. Suddenly, a large crowd was presented before me. I thought this was my nation, but I was told that this is Musa (peace be upon him) and his people. However, look towards the horizon." There I saw a great multitude. Then I was told to look to the other side, and there too I saw a great multitude. I was told: This is your nation, among them are seventy thousand people who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and entered his house, and the people began to discuss who these people entering Paradise without reckoning or punishment would be. Some said: Perhaps they are the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Others said: Perhaps they are those who were born in Islam and never associated anything with Allah. Similarly, people gave other opinions. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, he said: "What are you discussing?" The people informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about their discussion. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are those who do not cauterize (themselves for treatment), do not perform ruqyah (incantations), do not seek omens, and put their trust in their Lord." Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna 'Ukasha bin Mihsan al-Asadi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and asked: O Messenger of Allah! Am I among them? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, you are among them." Then another man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Am I also among them? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "'Ukasha has preceded you."

Hadith 2449
حَدَّثَنَا عبد الله , حدثنا شُجَاعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، مِثْلَهُ .

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " مَا صَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهْرًا كَامِلًا قَطُّ ، غَيْرَ رَمَضَانَ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَيَصُومُ إِذَا صَامَ ، حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ : وَاللَّهِ لَا يُفْطِرُ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَيُفْطِرُ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ ، حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ : وَاللَّهِ لَا يَصُومُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never fasted an entire month except for Ramadan. However, sometimes he would fast with such continuity that we would say, "Now the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will not leave any fast," and sometimes he would break his fasts with such continuity that we would say, "Now the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will not keep any fast."

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَطَعَ الْأَوْدِيَةَ وَجَاءَ بِهَدْيٍ ، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ بُدٌّ مِنْ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ ، وَيَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقِفَ بِعَرَفَةَ ، فَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ يَا أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ ، فَأَخِّرُوا طَوَافَكُمْ حَتَّى تَرْجِعُوا " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had crossed the valleys and he had also brought the sacrificial animal with him, therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had no choice but to perform the Tawaf of the House of Allah and the Sa'i between Safa and Marwah before standing at Arafah. But O people of Makkah! You should delay your Tawaf until you return back.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنِ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا حُرِّمَتْ الْخَمْرُ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَصْحَابُنَا الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يَشْرَبُونَهَا ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا سورة المائدة آية 93 " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the command regarding the prohibition of alcohol was revealed, the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted: O Messenger of Allah! What will happen to our brothers who passed away earlier and used to drink it before its prohibition? Upon this, the following verse was revealed: «﴿لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا﴾ [المائدة : 93]» "There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they consumed (or drank) before."

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، قَالَ : حُدِّثْتُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ إِنْ مَاتَ ، لَقِيَ اللَّهَ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a habitual wine drinker dies, he will meet Allah like the one who worshipped idols."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The blessing of horses is in those breeds which are red and yellow in color."

(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ كُلْثُومِ بْنِ جَبْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَخَذَ اللَّهُ الْمِيثَاقَ مِنْ ظَهْرِ آدَمَ بِنَعْمَانَ يَعْنِي : عَرَفَةَ , فَأَخْرَجَ مِنْ صُلْبِهِ كُلَّ ذُرِّيَّةٍ ذَرَأَهَا ، فَنَثَرَهُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ كَالذَّرِّ ، ثُمَّ كَلَّمَهُمْ قِبَلًا ، قَالَ : أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى شَهِدْنَا أَنْ تَقُولُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَذَا غَافِلِينَ أَوْ تَقُولُوا إِنَّمَا أَشْرَكَ آبَاؤُنَا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةً مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ سورة الأعراف آية 172 - 173 " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty took a covenant from all the progeny present in the loins of Adam (peace be upon him) at the plain of Arafat. Allah brought forth from his loins all his offspring that He was to create, and spread them before Him in the form of small ants. Then He turned to them and spoke to them, saying: 'Am I not your Lord?' They replied: 'Yes, indeed.' (It was further said:) 'We have taken your testimony lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: We were unaware of this, or lest you should say: Our forefathers had already committed shirk before us, and we were only their descendants after them. Will You then destroy us for the deeds of those who followed falsehood?'"

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ : الم تَنْزِيلُ وَهَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Ad-Dahr in the Fajr prayer on Friday.

Hadith 2458
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ ، عَنِ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فِي الرَّجُلِ يَأْتِي امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ ، قَالَ : " يَتَصَدَّقُ بِنِصْفِ دِينَارٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the person who had intimacy with his wife during her menstruation: "He should give half a dinar in charity."

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " عَجَّلَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَوْ عَجَّلَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ، وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ ، مِنَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ إِلَى جَمْرَةِ الْعَقَبَةِ ، فَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ لا نَرْمِيَهَا حتى تَطْلُعُ الشَّمْسُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent us—or Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and I was with her—early from Muzdalifah to Mina, and instructed us: "Do not stone the Jamrah Aqabah before sunrise."

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِي الْعَطَّارَ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : " أَرْسَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ ثَقَلَةِ وَضَعَفَةِ أَهْلِهِ لَيْلَةَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ ، فَصَلَّيْنَا الصُّبْحَ بِمِنًى ، وَرَمَيْنَا الْجَمْرَةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me along with his belongings and the weak members of his family towards Mina on the night of Muzdalifah. Thus, we performed the Fajr prayer in Mina itself and stoned the Jamrah Aqabah.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ الْقُرَشِيِّ ، قَالَ : " دَخَلْنَا بَيْتَ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَوَجَدْنَا فِيهِ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَذَكَرْنَا الْوُضُوءَ مِمَّا مَسَّتْ النَّارُ ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا مَسَّتْهُ النَّارُ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلَا يَتَوَضَّأُ " , فَقَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُنَا : أَنْتَ رَأَيْتَهُ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ؟ قَالَ : فَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى عَيْنَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : بَصُرَ عَيْنَيَّ .
Muhammad bin Amr says that once we entered the house of Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), and there we met Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). So we asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the ruling of ablution after eating food cooked on fire. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing prayer after eating something cooked on fire without performing fresh ablution. One of us asked, "Did you really see this?" He raised his hand towards his eyes — at that time he had become blind — and said, "I saw it with these two eyes of mine."

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَخَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " مَرَّ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ عَلَى نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَسُوقُ غَنَمًا لَهُ ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَقَالُوا : مَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا لِيَتَعَوَّذَ مِنْكُمْ ، فَعَمَدُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَتَلُوهُ ، وَأَخَذُوا غَنَمَهُ ، فَأَتَوْا بِهَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا وَلا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا سورة النساء آية 94 إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man from Banu Sulaym was driving his goats and passed by some of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). He greeted them with salam. They said, "He only greeted us to save his life." Saying this, they advanced towards him and killed him, and brought his goats to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Upon this, the following verse was revealed: «﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّٰهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا . . . . .﴾ [النساء : 94]» "O you who believe! When you go forth in the way of Allah, investigate carefully, and do not say to the one who offers you peace, 'You are not a believer' . . . . ."

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، وَأَبُو نُعَيْمٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ سورة آل عمران آية 110 , قَالَ : " هُمْ الَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا مَعَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ " , قَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ : مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the people referred to in «﴿كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ . . . . .﴾ [آل عمران : 110]» are those who migrated towards Madinah Munawwarah with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، وَأَبُو نُعَيْمٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ , سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : " لَمْ يَنْزِلْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ عَرَفَاتٍ وَجَمْعٍ إِلَّا لِيُهَرِيقَ الْمَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped between Arafat and Muzdalifah only so that water could be drained.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَمَانِيًا جَمِيعًا , وَسَبْعًا جَمِيعًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I prayed eight rak‘ahs (units of prayer) together with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for Zuhr and Asr, and I also prayed seven rak‘ahs together (with him) for Maghrib and Isha.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَهْدَى فِي بُدْنِهِ بَعِيرًا كَانَ لِأَبِي جَهْلٍ ، فِي أَنْفِهِ بُرَةٌ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that (on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Prophet ﷺ sacrificed one hundred) camels, among which was a red camel belonging to Abu Jahl, which had a silver ring in its nose.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " انْتَهَسَ عَرْقًا ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate meat with bone and then performed prayer without renewing his ablution.

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا قَذَفَ هِلَالُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ امْرَأَتَهُ ، قِيلَ لَهُ : وَاللَّهِ لَيَجْلِدَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَمَانِينَ جَلْدَةً , قَالَ : اللَّهُ أَعْدَلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَنْ يَضْرِبَنِي ثَمَانِينَ ضَرْبَةً ، وَقَدْ عَلِمَ أَنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ حَتَّى اسْتَيْقَنْتُ ، وَسَمِعْتُ حَتَّى اسْتَيْقَنْتُ ، لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا يَضْرِبُنِي أَبَدًا , قَالَ : فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْمُلَاعَنَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Sayyiduna Hilal bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) accused his wife of adultery, people began to say to him that now the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will certainly have you flogged with eighty lashes. He said, "Allah is very just; He will save me from those eighty lashes because He knows that I saw (it) until I was certain, and I heard with my own ears until I was certain. By Allah! Allah will not let me be punished." Upon this, the verse of Li'an was revealed.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ , عَنْ أَيُّوبَ , عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ , عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : أَنَّ جاريةً بِكْراً أَتَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَتْ أَنَّ أَبَاهَا زَوَّجَهَا وَهِيَ كَارِهَةٌ ، فَخَيَّرَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a virgin girl came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said that her father had married her off to someone whom she did not like. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the girl the choice (to accept or reject the marriage).

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ أَحْمَدُ : عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَكُونُ قَوْمٌ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ يَخْضِبُونَ بِهَذَا السَّوَادِ ، قَالَ حُسَيْنٌ : كَحَوَاصِلِ الْحَمَامِ ، لَا يَرِيحُونَ رَائِحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the last times, there will come people who will use black dye; such people will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise."

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَهْرَامَ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : حَضَرَتْ عِصَابَةٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ خِلَالٍ نَسْأَلُكَ عَنْهُا ، لَا يَعْلَمُهُنَّ إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ , فَكَانَ فِيمَا سَأَلُوهُ ، أَيُّ الطَّعَامِ حَرَّمَ إِسْرَائِيلُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُنَزَّلَ التَّوْرَاةُ ؟ قَالَ : " فَأَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ التَّوْرَاةَ عَلَى مُوسَى ، هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ إِسْرَائِيلَ يَعْقُوبَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام مَرِضَ مَرَضًا شَدِيدًا فَطَالَ سَقَمُهُ ، فَنَذَرَ لِلَّهِ نَذْرًا لَئِنْ شَفَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ سَقَمِهِ ، لَيُحَرِّمَنَّ أَحَبَّ الشَّرَابِ إِلَيْهِ ، وَأَحَبَّ الطَّعَامِ إِلَيْهِ ، فَكَانَ أَحَبَّ الطَّعَامِ إِلَيْهِ لُحْمَانُ الْإِبِلِ ، وَأَحَبَّ الشَّرَابِ إِلَيْهِ أَلْبَانُهَا ؟ " فَقَالُوا : اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a delegation of Jews came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him)! We want to ask you a few things, please answer them for us, because only a prophet can know them. Among the questions they asked was this: Before the Torah was revealed, which food did Jacob (peace be upon him) make unlawful for himself? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I ask you by Allah, Who revealed the Torah to Moses (peace be upon him), do you not know that once Jacob (peace be upon him) became very seriously ill, and when his illness became prolonged, he made a vow in the name of Allah that if Allah granted him recovery from his illness, he would make his most beloved drink and his most beloved food unlawful for himself? And among foods, he loved camel meat the most, and among drinks, its milk was the most beloved to him?" They said: By Allah! It is so.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَمْعَةُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ وَهْرَامَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى عَلَى بِسَاطٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray on a mat.

Hadith 2473
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ حُكْمًا ، وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ سِحْرًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Some poetry is full of wisdom, and some speech has an effect like magic."

Hadith 2474
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَلَى أُنَاسٍ قَدْ وَضَعُوا حَمَامَةً يَرْمُونَهَا ، فَقَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَنْ يُتَّخَذَ الرُّوحُ غَرَضًاً " .
Ikrimah says that once Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed by some people who had caught a pigeon and were aiming at it to practice their marksmanship. He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade tying up any living creature and using it as a target.

(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : أَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بْنَتاً لَهُ تَقْضِي فَاحْتَضَنَهَا ، فَوَضَعَهَا بَيْنَ ثَدْيَيْهِ , فَمَاتَتْ وَهِيَ بَيْنَ ثَدْيًيْه ، فَصَاحَتْ أُمُّ أَيْمَنَ ، فَقِيلَ : أَتَبْكِي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَتْ : أَلَسْتُ أَرَاكَ تَبْكِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " لَسْتُ أَبْكِي ، إِنَّمَا هِيَ رَحْمَةٌ ، إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ بِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ ، إِنَّ نَفْسَهُ تَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْنِ جَنْبَيْهِ وَهُوَ يَحْمَدُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to one of his daughters (his granddaughter), who was in the throes of death. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took her and placed her in his lap, and in that state her soul departed, and tears flowed from the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyida Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) also began to weep. Someone said to her: Are you weeping in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? She replied: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself is weeping, why should I not weep? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am not weeping; this is mercy. When the soul of the believer departs from both his sides, he is praising Allah."
