Musnad Ahmad

Urwah narrates that when someone from the family of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away, after the women of the congregation had left and only the women of her household remained, she would order a pot to be put on in which porridge was cooked. Then she would order for tharid to be prepared, and the porridge would be poured over the tharid. She would then say, "Eat it, for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that porridge strengthens the heart of the sick and removes the effects of grief."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come out of the toilet, he would say: "Ghufranaka." O Allah! I seek Your forgiveness.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: O Allah! Just as You have made my appearance good, make my character good as well.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that sometimes when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray at night, I would be lying in front of him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come home after offering the Isha prayer, then he would offer two rak'ahs, after that he would offer two more rak'ahs which were longer than the previous ones, then he would offer three witr and would not separate them. Then he would offer two rak'ahs sitting. In these, he would perform ruku' while sitting and would go into prostration while sitting.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never ate his fill of wheat bread for three consecutive days, until he departed from this world, and a piece of bread was never removed from his dining spread until he departed from this world.

Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), how did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) begin his prayer when he would wake up at night? She replied: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would wake up, he would say Takbeer and say: O Allah! O Lord of Jibreel, Mika'eel, and Israfeel! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of the unseen and the seen! You alone judge between Your servants concerning that wherein they differ. Guide me, by Your permission, to the truth concerning that wherein they differ, for surely You guide whom You will to the straight path.

Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would wake up at night, he would recite this supplication: O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil suggestions, the blowing, and the spitting of the accursed Shaytaan. And he used to say: You should also seek refuge in Allah from these. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by the evil suggestions, the blowing, and the spitting of Shaytaan? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Evil suggestions" means death that comes to the children of Adam, "blowing" means arrogance, and "spitting" means poetry.

He said, Yahya said: Abu Salamah said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, when he would stand at night, would say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed devil, from his madness, his poetry, and his arrogance."

He said: He said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say: "Seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil, from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry." They said: O Messenger of Allah, what is his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry? He said: "As for his madness, it is the seizure (epilepsy) that befalls the children of Adam; as for his arrogance, it is pride; and as for his poetry, it is poetry."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! If the time for prayer comes, I am required to perform ghusl, and I also want to fast, what should I do?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If such a situation were to happen to me, I would perform ghusl and then fast." The man said, "We are not like you; Allah Almighty has forgiven all your past and future sins." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became displeased, and signs of anger appeared on his blessed face, and he said, "By Allah, I hope that I am the most God-fearing among you and the most knowledgeable about Him."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a pouch containing gems was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed those gems among free and slave women, and my father also used to distribute them among slaves and free people.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss his wives while he was fasting, but he had more control over his desires than you.

Shurayh says that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ever recite poetry? She said, yes! He would sometimes recite this verse of Abdullah bin Rawaha (may Allah be pleased with him): "And a person will bring you news whom you did not provide provisions for."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered four units (rak‘ahs) of Duha (forenoon) prayer in my house.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Who is the best of people?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The era in which I am, then the next, and then the third."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that it is not appropriate for anyone to bear enmity towards Hazrat Usama (may Allah be pleased with him), for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever loves Allah and His Messenger should love Usama.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I and the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to perform ghusl of janabah from the same vessel of water. We become impure (junub), but the water does not become impure.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a servant's sins become numerous and he has nothing with which to atone for those sins, then Allah Almighty afflicts him with grief so that it becomes an atonement for his sins.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that after coming to Madinah Munawwarah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not fast the entire month in any month except Ramadan.

Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once we were sitting leaning against the room of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she was using a miswak and I could hear its sound. I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah in the month of Rajab? He replied, "Yes!" I conveyed this to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), so she said, "May Allah have mercy on Abu Abdur Rahman, whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah, he (Ibn Umar) was with him (but he forgot that) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never performed Umrah in the month of Rajab."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade seclusion.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) once said to Urwah, "Are you not astonished at Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him)? He came and sat near my chamber and began narrating hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and his voice kept reaching my ears while I was performing voluntary prayers. He left before I finished my prayers. If I had found him in his place, I would certainly have refuted him and explained to him, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not narrate hadiths in the manner that you narrate."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing snakes that reside in houses, except for those snakes that have a short tail or two stripes, because such snakes cause blindness and cause women to miscarry, and whoever leaves such snakes is not from among us.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The one who applies cupping and the one to whom it is applied, both their fasts are broken.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The extremely black dog is a devil.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told a story to his pure wives at night. One woman said, "O Messenger of Allah! This story seems like the tale of Khurafa." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do you know who Khurafa was? Khurafa was a man from Banu Udhra whom a jinn had imprisoned during the time of ignorance, and that man lived among them for a long time. Then those people left him among humans, and he used to narrate to people the astonishing things he had seen there. From there, people started saying, 'It is the story of Khurafa.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from this world at a time when people would fill their stomachs with two black things, that is, water and dates.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the Noble Qur'an while reclining in my lap, even though I was menstruating.

Narrated to us by Hasan ibn al-Rabi', narrated to us by Dawud ibn Abd al-Rahman, narrated to us by Mansur ibn Safiyyah, from his mother, from Aisha, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the like of it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when a solar eclipse occurred, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution, gave the order, and the announcement was made that the prayer was ready. Then he stood up and performed a long standing in prayer, and most likely recited Surah Al-Baqarah in it. Then he performed a long bowing (ruku’), then after saying "Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah" he stood for quite a while as before and did not go into prostration (sajdah), but instead performed ruku’ again. Then he went into prostration, and in the second rak’ah he did the same, performing two ruku’ in each rak’ah. Then he sat in the final sitting (tashahhud), and during this time the solar eclipse ended.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her and said: "If I did not fear that the Quraysh would fall into pride and arrogance, I would have told them what their status and rank is with Allah."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us that for a boy’s aqeeqah, two equal goats should be sacrificed, and for a girl, one goat. He also commanded that for every five, one goat should be sacrificed.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to criticize those women who would present themselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and her opinion was that a woman should feel ashamed to present herself without a dowry. Upon this, the verse was revealed: "You may defer whom you wish of them and take to yourself whom you wish." So Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "I see that your Lord hastens to fulfill your desires."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Hazrat Harith bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "How does revelation come to you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Sometimes revelation comes to me with a sound like the ringing of a bell; this form is the hardest upon me, but when this state departs from me, I have understood the divine message. And sometimes the angel comes to me in the form of a man and speaks to me, and I remember what he says."

Narrated to us 'Amir ibn Salih az-Zubayri, he narrated to me Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from his father, from Aisha, from al-Harith ibn Hisham, that he asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he mentioned something similar to it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and sought permission to enter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allow him to enter; he is a very bad man of his tribe." When he entered, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to him gently. When he left, another man sought permission to enter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "He is a very good man of his tribe." But when he entered, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pay attention to him cheerfully as he had done with the first one. When he left, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) submitted, "Earlier you said such and such about him, then you also spoke to him gently, and you did not do the same with the other man?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Aisha! The worst person in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be the one whom people leave alone to avoid his foul language."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, and I sensed from the face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that there was some distress in his mood. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and left without speaking to anyone. I went near the chambers and listened, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: O people! Allah Almighty says: Enjoin good and forbid evil before the time comes when you call upon Me and I do not accept your prayers, you ask of Me and I do not grant you anything, and you seek help from Me and I do not help you.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in prayer and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the row.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that during his final illness, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat and performed prayer behind Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said during his final illness: "Order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Bakr is a soft-hearted man; he will not be able to control his tears and the people will not be able to hear his voice." But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." When I repeated (my request), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the same order and said, "You are like the women who were infatuated with Yusuf (Joseph) (who concealed something in their hearts and expressed something else with their tongues)."
