Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that on the morning my marriage was consummated, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me and sat on my bed. Some young girls were beating the daff and lamenting my forefathers who were martyred on the day of Badr, until one of them said:
"And among us is a Prophet who knows what will happen tomorrow."
So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave this, and say what you were saying before."

Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin Afra (may Allah be pleased with her) said: On the morning of the day of Ashura, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent this message to the villages of the Ansar around Madinah: "Whoever began the morning fasting, let him complete his fast; and whoever began the morning not fasting, let him fast the rest of the day." So we used to fast on that day, and our little children would fast too. We would make a toy of wool for them and take them to the garden, and when any of them cried for food, we would give him that toy until it was time to break the fast.
