It is narrated from Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that a dabb was given to her as a gift, and two men of her people came to her. She gave instructions and it was cooked, then she presented it to the two of them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came while they were eating, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) welcomed them, then reached out to eat. When he brought the morsel near his mouth, he said: "What is this?" One of them said: It is a dabb (a lizard-like animal) that was given to us as a gift. She said: So he (peace and blessings be upon him) put the morsel down, and the two men wanted to spit out what was in their mouths, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do that. You, the people of Najd, eat it, and we, the people of Tihamah, find it distasteful."
