Sayyiduna Abu Namlah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man from among the Jews came, and at that moment a funeral passed by. He said: O Muhammad! Does this deceased person speak? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah knows best." The Jew said: It speaks. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever the People of the Book tell you, neither believe it nor deny it, and say: We believe in Allah, His Books and His Messengers. If it is false, you will not have believed it, and if it is true, you will not have denied it."
