It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that whenever he returned from a journey, he would first go to the mosque and pray two rak'ahs in it, then go first of all to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), then go to his wives. On returning from one journey, he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs in the mosque, then went to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). She came to the door of the house to receive him (peace and blessings be upon him), and began kissing his (peace and blessings be upon him) mouth and eyes and weeping. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What makes you weep?" She said: I see you dishevelled and exhausted, and your clothes have also become worn out. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Do not weep, for Allah has sent your father with a religion such that no house, mud dwelling, stone, or tent of camel hair or goat hair will remain on the face of the earth but that Allah will bring into it honour or humiliation, until this religion reaches wherever the night reaches."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey, he would first go to the mosque and pray two rak'ahs in it, then go first of all to the house of Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), then go to the houses of his wives. The narrator said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) went in to her, and she placed her hand on his (peace and blessings be upon him) cheek and said: O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, your clothes have become worn out. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Fatimah, Allah has sent your father with a religion such that no mud house or tent of hair will remain but that Allah will bring it into honour because of your father, until this religion reaches wherever the night reaches."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) (and the narrator said: I met him myself and spoke with him); he said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Nuwaybah." I said: O Messenger of Allah, is it a good nuwaybah or a bad one? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather a good nuwaybah." I said: O Messenger of Allah, I set out on a journey with an uncle of mine, and he suffered from walking barefoot, so he said: Lend me your shoes. I said: I will not lend them to you unless you give me your daughter in marriage. He said: I have married her to you. Then, when we reached our families, he sent my shoes back to me and sent word: You have no wife with us. The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There was no good for you in her."
I said: O Messenger of Allah, I made a vow that I would slaughter some camels before one of the idols of the Jahiliyyah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fulfil your vow, but do not disobey your Lord."
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no fulfilling a vow to commit a sin, to sever ties of kinship, or regarding something that one does not own."
I said: O Messenger of Allah, if silver is found near an inhabited village or a frequented road (what should I do)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Announce it for a year; if its owner comes, give it to him; otherwise, take note of its tie, its pouch and its amount, then make use of it."
I said: O Prophet of Allah, if silver is found in such (uninhabited) land? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In it and in buried treasure there is the khumus (one fifth)."
I said: O Messenger of Allah, I send out my trained dog after game; some of it I find alive and slaughter, and some I cannot reach in time. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat whatever your trained dog holds for you." I said: O Prophet of Allah, I shoot with my bow and hit the game; some of it I find alive and slaughter, and some I do not. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat whatever your bow brings back to you." I said: O Messenger of Allah, I shoot my arrow and the game disappears from my sight; then I find it with my arrow in it, which I recognise and do not deny, and there is no mark on it other than that of my arrow. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If (the meat) has not become putrid, and you found it with your arrow in it which you recognise and do not deny, and there is no mark on it other than that of your arrow, then eat; otherwise do not eat."
I said: O Prophet of Allah, what of a sheep that we find in the wilderness? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat it, for it is either for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf." I said: O Prophet of Allah, what of a camel or she-camel found in the wilderness with its baggage and water-skin? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave it alone; what have you to do with it?"
I said: O Prophet of Allah, the cooking pots of the polytheists: may we cook in them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not cook in them." I said: What if we need them and cannot do without them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then wash them well with water, then cook and eat."
