It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that whenever he returned from a journey, he would first go to the mosque and pray two rak'ahs in it, then go first of all to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), then go to his wives. On returning from one journey, he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs in the mosque, then went to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). She came to the door of the house to receive him (peace and blessings be upon him), and began kissing his (peace and blessings be upon him) mouth and eyes and weeping. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What makes you weep?" She said: I see you dishevelled and exhausted, and your clothes have also become worn out. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Do not weep, for Allah has sent your father with a religion such that no house, mud dwelling, stone, or tent of camel hair or goat hair will remain on the face of the earth but that Allah will bring into it honour or humiliation, until this religion reaches wherever the night reaches."
