Sayyiduna Abu Shurayh al-Ka'bi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Whoever sees me quarrelling with an in-law of mine, who has given me his daughter in marriage and to whom I have given my daughter in marriage, then on that day I am insane, so cauterise my head. And whoever sees a kid goat or milk of Abu Shurayh being sold in the market, it is free plunder for him from me (that is, he may take it for nothing). And whoever sees me disputing with a neighbour of mine over a brick (of the boundary wall), then I am insane, so cauterise my head." The narrator said: A neighbour of his, who was called Ajrafah, put this saying of his to the test and took ten cubits from his house. The people said to him: O Abu Shurayh, he has taken ten cubits from your house. He said: He knows best. The narrator said: Then later his neighbour returned it to him and went back to (what was) his right.
