Simak bin Harb (may Allah have mercy on him) relates that Alqamah bin Wa'il (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted me a piece of land and sent Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) with me, and said: "Show him this land and give it to him." Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "Let me ride behind you." I said: "You are not of those who ride behind kings." He said: "Give me your sandals so that I may wear them." I said: "Walk in the shade of the she-camel." Then when Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) became caliph, I came to him, and he seated me with him on the throne, then reminded me of this incident. Simak said: He (Wa'il, may Allah be pleased with him) said: I wish I had carried him in front of me.

The Hadrami said: O Messenger of Allah, this man has seized from me land that belonged to my father. The Kindi said: It is my land, in my possession; I cultivate it, and he has no right to it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you have any evidence?" He said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then you are entitled to his oath." He said: O Messenger of Allah, he is a wicked man; he does not care what he swears upon, and he refrains from nothing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have nothing from him except that." So he went off to take the oath, and when he turned his back, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Know that if he swears upon his property in order to consume it unjustly, he will meet Allah while He is turning away from him."

Simak bin Harb (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates, through Alqamah bin Wa'il bin Hujr, from his father, that a man attacked a woman in the darkness before dawn while she was heading to the mosque, and forced himself upon her. She called for help to a man who was passing by, and her attacker fled. Then a group of armed people passed by her and she called on them for help; they caught the man whose help she had sought, while the other (the attacker) got away from them. They brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the woman told him (peace and blessings be upon him) that this man had attacked her, and the people told him that they had caught him running. He said: I was only trying to help her against her attacker, but these people caught me. She said: He is lying; he is the one who assaulted me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take him away and stone him." Then a man from among the people stood up and said: Do not stone him; I am the one who did this to her. So he confessed, and thus three people were gathered before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): the one who assaulted her, the one who helped her, and the woman. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have been forgiven," and he also spoke kind words to the one who had helped her. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Stone the one who has confessed to fornication. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Listen! He has repented to Allah with such a repentance that, if all the people of Yathrib had repented with it, it would have been accepted from them."

Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a woman went out (of her home) intending to pray. On the way a man met her and forcibly satisfied his desire with her. The woman cried out and he (the offender) ran off. Then another man passed by her, and the woman said: That man did such-and-such to me. So the people set off and seized the man who she thought had assaulted her, and they asked (her): Is this the one? She said: Yes, this is the one. So they brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned, her (actual) assailant, the one who had assaulted her, stood up and said: I am the one. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come close to me; Allah has forgiven you," and he also spoke kind words to the other man. The people said to him about the man who had assaulted her: Will you stone him? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has repented with such a repentance that, if (all) the people of Madinah had repented with it, it would have been accepted from them."

He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How did you kill him?" He said: I struck his head with an axe; I did not intend to kill him. He went out with him to kill him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If he kills him, he will be like him." When he heard this, he brought him back and said: Here he is; now command concerning him whatever you wish. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let him go."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when suddenly a man entered leading another man by a rope, until he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, this man killed my brother. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you kill him?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How did you kill him?" He said: We were cutting firewood from a tree when he insulted me, so I struck him on the head with an axe and killed him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you have wealth with which to pay the blood money on your own behalf?" He said: No, by Allah, I have no wealth except my axe and my cloak. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you think your people will pay the blood money on your behalf?" He said: I am of far less worth to my people than that. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw his rope to him (the brother) and said: "Take your man." When he turned to go, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If he kills him, he will be like him." Then someone came to him and said: Woe to you! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is saying: "If he kills him, he will be like him." He said: O Messenger of Allah, I only took him by your command. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you not want him to return bearing his own sin and the sin of your companion?" He said: Certainly, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then that is how it is." So he threw down his rope and said: "Go wherever you wish."
