Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood at the rubbish heap of some people. I brought him (peace and blessings be upon him) water, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution. He (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a Roman cloak with small sleeves, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) brought his hand out from underneath that cloak, washed his face, wiped his head and wiped over his leather socks, then he stood and prayed.

Abu Wa'il (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was present at the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah. Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) went forward, and when he came near the throne of Rustam, he leapt up and sat down with him on his throne. (The people of the court) became agitated. Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to them: Why are you alarmed at this? I will now get up and go back to my place, and your companion will go back to his place. They said: Tell us, what has brought you here? Al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were astray, then Allah sent a Prophet among us and guided us to His religion. Among what He provided us with, He provided us with a grain that grows in this land of yours. When we ate of it and fed our families, they said: We cannot be patient until you settle us in this land. They said: Then we will kill you. Al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you kill us, we will enter Paradise; and if we kill you, you will enter Hell.
