So al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to him: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seek refuge from three things: from disobedience to mothers, from burying daughters alive, and from withholding (what one should give) and constantly demanding; and I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid three things: idle talk, wasting wealth, and asking excessive questions; and I also heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the greatness of one who has greatness avails him nothing against You."

O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the greatness of one who has greatness avails him nothing against You."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), after ending with the salam at the close of the prayer, used to say: "There is no true god except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner; His is the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things. O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the greatness of one who has greatness avails him nothing against You."
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب الميم / 18042
Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him): Write to me something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So he wrote to him in my hand (that is, by having me write it): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when finishing the prayer, used to say: "There is no true god except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner; His is the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things. O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the greatness of one who has greatness avails him nothing against You."
And in the same letter he also wrote that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah Almighty has disliked three things for you: burying daughters alive, disobedience to mothers, and withholding (what one should give) and constantly demanding." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid idle talk, asking excessive questions, and wasting wealth.
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب الميم / 18043
Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I were to see a man with my wife, I would strike him with the sword. This reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you amazed at the protective jealousy of Sa'd? By Allah, I am more protectively jealous than Sa'd, and Allah is more protectively jealous than me; and because of that He has forbidden shameful deeds - whether open or hidden. And there is no one who loves excuses more than Allah, the Mighty and Majestic; for that reason He sent His messengers as bearers of glad tidings and warners. And there is no one who loves praise more than Allah, the Mighty and Majestic; and for that reason He promised Paradise."
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب الميم / 18045
Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) was saying: If I were to find a man with my wife, I would strike him with the edge of the sword, not with its flat side. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you amazed at the protective jealousy of Sa'd? By Allah!" - then the narrator related it like the previous hadith.
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب الميم / 18046
Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were travelling with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) struck the neck of my mount with his hand, then said: "Do you have water with you?" I said: Yes, I have this leather vessel of water with me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave it." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted and relieved himself, then came to me and said: "Do you need to relieve yourself?" I said: No. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his hands three times, rinsed his mouth and put water into his nose three times, then washed his face three times. Then he intended to bring out his forearms, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a tight woollen cloak (jubbah) and he (peace and blessings be upon him) could not bring his forearms out of it, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) brought his hands out from underneath the cloak, then washed his forearms three times each, then wiped over his head and wiped over his leather socks. Then we went on and caught up with the people, and Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) was leading them in prayer. I wanted to inform him of the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but he (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped me. So we prayed one rak'ah with him, then completed the second rak'ah ourselves.
