Warrad, the scribe of Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him), said: Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him): Write to me something from the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to him: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seek refuge from three things: from disobedience to mothers, from burying daughters alive, and from withholding (what one should give) and constantly demanding; and I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid three things: idle talk, wasting wealth, and asking excessive questions; and I also heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the greatness of one who has greatness avails him nothing against You."
