حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا هَوْذَةُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، ثنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنِ أَبِي الْخُوَارِ، أَنَّ نَافِعَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ، أَرْسَلَهُ إِلَى السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ رَآهُ مِنْهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، فَقَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ الْجُمُعَةَ فِي الْمَقْصُورَةِ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قُمْتُ فِي مَقَامِي فَصَلَّيْتُ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ: «لَا تَعُدْ لِمَا فَعَلْتَ، إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلَا تَصِلْهَا بِصَلَاةٍ حَتَّى تَتَكَلَّمَ أَوْ تَخْرُجَ، فَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِذَلِكَ» . زَادَ هَوْذَةُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: أَلَّا تُوصَلَ بِصَلَاةٍ حَتَّى تَتَكَلَّمَ أَوْ تَخْرُجَ
Umar bin Abi al-Khuwar (may Allah have mercy on him) relates that Nafi' bin Jubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) sent him to Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask him about something that Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) had seen him do in prayer. He said: I prayed the Friday prayer with him in the maqsurah, and when he gave the salam, I stood in my place and began to pray. When he went inside, he sent for me and said: "Do not repeat what you did. When you have prayed the Friday prayer, do not immediately join another prayer to it until you have spoken or gone out, for the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that." Hawdhah added in his narration: that it should not be joined to another prayer until one has spoken or gone out.
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ مُعَاوِيَةُ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ، فَقَالَ: «أَيْنَ كُنْتَ؟» ، قُلْتُ: كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي، فَقَالَ: «تُصَلِّي بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ؟» ، فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ: «فَلَا تَفْعَلْ، فَإِنِّي أَعْلَمُ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent for me after Asr and said: "Where were you?" I said: I was praying. He said: "You pray after Asr?" I said: Yes. Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Do not do so, for I know better (the way of) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَطَّارُ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ، ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ: أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ: «نَهَى عَنِ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ تُصَلَّيَانِ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، وَالسَّجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ» ، يَقُولُ مُعَاوِيَةُ: وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ بِصَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him), that he told him that Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade the two rak'ahs prayed in the mosque after the Friday prayer and the two rak'ahs after Asr. Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: And I know better the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ السُّكَّرِيُّ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ، ثنا الْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، قَالَا: ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ، يَخْطُبُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَفِي يَدِهِ قُصَّةٌ مِنْ شَعَرٍ، فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ؟، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ هَذِهِ، وَقَالَ: «إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ حِينَ اتَّخَذَهَا نِسَاؤُهُمْ»
Imam al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon in Madinah on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), with a lock of hair in his hand, and he said: O people of Madinah, where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid this, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those before you were destroyed only when their women adopted it."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ، ثنا الْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، قَالَا: ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ يَخْطُبُ، يَقُولُ: يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ؟، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «هَذَا يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ، وَلَمْ يَفْرِضِ اللهُ صِيَامَهُ، وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ، فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَصُومَ فَلْيَصُمْ وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُفْطِرَ فَلْيُفْطِرْ»
Imam al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon, saying: O people of Madinah, where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "This is the day of Ashura. Allah has not made its fasting obligatory, and I am fasting. So whoever wishes to fast, let him fast, and whoever wishes not to fast, let him not fast."
