حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، أنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَصَاحِبٌ لِي حَتَّى انْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ نَجِدْهُ فَأَطْعَمَتْنَا عَائِشَةُ تَمْرًا، وَعَصَدَتْ لَنَا عَصِيدَةً، إِذْ جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْقَلِعُ، فَقَالَ: «هَلْ أَطْعَمْتِهِمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ؟» ، قُلْنَا: نَعَمْ، فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ دَفَعَ الرَّاعِي الْغَنَمَ إِلَى الْمُرَاحِ، عَلَى يَدِهِ سَخْلَةٌ، فَقَالَ: «هَلْ وَلَدَتْ؟» ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «فَاذْبَحْ شَاةً» ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ: " لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ - وَلَمْ يَقُلْ: لَا تَحْسَبُنَّ - أَنَّا ذَبَحْنَا الشَّاةَ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمَا، لَنَا غَنْمٌ مِائَةٌ لَا نُرِيدُ أَنْ تَزِيدَ عَلَيْهَا، إِذَا وُلِدَ لِلرَّاعِي بَهْمَةٌ أَمَرْنَاهُ فَذَبَحَ شَاةً "
قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخْبِرْنِي عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ، قَالَ: «إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَأَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ وَخَلِّلِ الْأَصَابِعَ، وَإِذَا اسْتَنْثَرْتَ فَأَبْلِغْ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ صَائِمًا»
قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لِي امْرَأَةً، فَذَكَرَ مِنْ طُولِ لِسَانِهَا وَبَذَائِهَا، قَالَ: «طَلِّقْهَا» ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا ذَاتُ صُحْبَةٍ وَوَلَدٍ، قَالَ: «أَمْسِكْهَا وَأَئْمِرْهَا فَإِنْ يَكُنْ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ فَسَتَفْعَلُ، وَلَا تَضْرِبْ ظَعِينَتَكَ ضَرْبَكَ أَمَتَكَ» .
قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخْبِرْنِي عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ، قَالَ: «إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَأَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ وَخَلِّلِ الْأَصَابِعَ، وَإِذَا اسْتَنْثَرْتَ فَأَبْلِغْ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ صَائِمًا»
قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لِي امْرَأَةً، فَذَكَرَ مِنْ طُولِ لِسَانِهَا وَبَذَائِهَا، قَالَ: «طَلِّقْهَا» ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا ذَاتُ صُحْبَةٍ وَوَلَدٍ، قَالَ: «أَمْسِكْهَا وَأَئْمِرْهَا فَإِنْ يَكُنْ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ فَسَتَفْعَلُ، وَلَا تَضْرِبْ ظَعِينَتَكَ ضَرْبَكَ أَمَتَكَ» .
Sayyiduna Laqit bin Sabirah al-Uqayli (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My companion and I reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) but did not find him (peace and blessings be upon him), so Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) fed us dates and made a porridge ('asidah) for us. Meanwhile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived and said: "Did you feed them anything?" We said: Yes. In the meantime the shepherd brought the goats into the fold, with a newborn kid in his hand, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Has she given birth?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then slaughter a goat." Then he turned his face towards us and said: "Do not by any means think" — and he did not say: you should not think — "that we slaughtered this goat because of you two. We have a hundred goats and we do not want the number to grow beyond that; whenever a young one is born to the shepherd, we order him to slaughter a goat."
I said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about ablution (wudu). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you perform ablution, perform it thoroughly and pass (water) between the fingers, and when you put water into your nose, do it thoroughly, unless you are fasting."
I said: O Messenger of Allah! I have a wife — and he mentioned her long tongue and foul language. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Divorce her." I said: O Messenger of Allah! She has been a long companion and has children. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then keep her and advise her; if there is any good in her, she will accept it. And never beat your wife the way you beat your slave-girl."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ
A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyiduna Laqit bin Sabirah (may Allah be pleased with him).
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ شَيْئًا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ، وَخَلِّلِ الْأَصَابِعَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Laqit bin Sabirah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned something, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ablution thoroughly and pass (water) between the fingers."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَا: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «أَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ، وَخَلِّلِ الْأَصَابِعَ، وَإِذَا اسْتَنْشَقْتَ فَبَالِغْ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ صَائِمًا» ، «وَلَفْظُهُمَا وَاحِدٌ»
Sayyiduna Laqit bin Sabirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ablution thoroughly, pass (water) between the fingers, and when you draw water into your nose, do so thoroughly, unless you are fasting." (The wording of both narrators is the same.)
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَسَّانٍ الْعَطَّارُ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، ثنا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَافِدِ بَنِي الْمُنْتَفِقِ: أَنَّهُ أَتَى عَائِشَةَ هُوَ وَصَاحِبٌ لَهُ يَطْلُبَانِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَجِدَاهُ فَأَطْعَمَتْهُمَا عَائِشَةُ عَصِيدَةً، فَلَمْ يَلْبَثْ أَنْ جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْقَلِعُ يَتَكَفَّأُ، فَقَالَ: «أَطْعَمْتِهِمَا؟» ، قُلْنَا: نَعَمْ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الصَّلَاةُ؟، قَالَ: «أَسْبِغِ الْوُضُوءَ، وَخَلِّلِ الْأَصَابِعَ، وَبَالِغْ فِي الِاسْتِنْشَاقِ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ صَائِمًا»
قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لِي امْرَأَةً وَذَكَرَ مِنْ بَلَائِهَا، فَقَالَ: «طَلِّقْهَا» ، قُلْتُ: إِنَّهَا ذَاتُ صُحْبَةٍ وَوَلَدٍ، قَالَ: «فَعِظْهَا، إِنْ يَكُنْ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ فَسَتَفْعَلُ، وَلَا تَضْرِبْ ظَعِينَتَكَ ضَرْبَكَ أُمَيَّتَكَ»
فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ دَفَعَ رَاعِي الْغَنَمِ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ فِي الْمُرَاحِ سَخْلَةً، قَالَ: «أَوَلَدَتْ؟» ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «بَهْمَةٌ - قَالَ - اذْبَحْ مَكَانَهَا شَاةً» ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلِيَّ فَقَالَ: «لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ - وَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَا تَحْسَبُنَّ - أَنَّا ذَبَحْنَاهَا مِنْ أَجَلِكَ، إِنَّ لَنَا غَنْمٌ مِائَةٌ لَا نُحِبُّ أَنْ يَزِيدَ عَلَيْهَا، وَكُلَّمَا وَلَّدَ الرَّاعِي بَهْمَةً أَمَرْنَاهُ فَذَبَحَ شَاةً»
قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لِي امْرَأَةً وَذَكَرَ مِنْ بَلَائِهَا، فَقَالَ: «طَلِّقْهَا» ، قُلْتُ: إِنَّهَا ذَاتُ صُحْبَةٍ وَوَلَدٍ، قَالَ: «فَعِظْهَا، إِنْ يَكُنْ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ فَسَتَفْعَلُ، وَلَا تَضْرِبْ ظَعِينَتَكَ ضَرْبَكَ أُمَيَّتَكَ»
فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ دَفَعَ رَاعِي الْغَنَمِ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ فِي الْمُرَاحِ سَخْلَةً، قَالَ: «أَوَلَدَتْ؟» ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «بَهْمَةٌ - قَالَ - اذْبَحْ مَكَانَهَا شَاةً» ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلِيَّ فَقَالَ: «لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ - وَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَا تَحْسَبُنَّ - أَنَّا ذَبَحْنَاهَا مِنْ أَجَلِكَ، إِنَّ لَنَا غَنْمٌ مِائَةٌ لَا نُحِبُّ أَنْ يَزِيدَ عَلَيْهَا، وَكُلَّمَا وَلَّدَ الرَّاعِي بَهْمَةً أَمَرْنَاهُ فَذَبَحَ شَاةً»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Laqit bin Sabirah (may Allah be pleased with him), who came in the delegation of Banu al-Muntafiq, that he and a companion of his came to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) looking for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) but did not find him (peace and blessings be upon him), so Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) fed them porridge ('asidah). Not long had passed when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, walking and leaning forward, and said: "Did you feed them anything?" We said: Yes. I said: O Messenger of Allah! (Tell me) about the prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ablution thoroughly, pass (water) between the fingers, and draw water into the nose thoroughly, unless you are fasting."
I said: O Messenger of Allah! I have a wife — and he mentioned her ill-treatment — and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Divorce her."
