It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by him on the occasion of the Umrah of al-Hudaybiyah, when the lice of his head had greatly increased. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Ka'b bin Ujrah! This is certainly harmful." He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah, so is there any concession for me? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Slaughter a sacrifice, or fast three days, or feed six poor people."

Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "And whoever among you is ill or has an ailment of the head, then a ransom of fasting or charity or a sacrifice" [Surah al-Baqarah: 196]. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called me and said: "Shave your head and fast three days, or feed six poor people one faraq of raisins, or slaughter a goat." So I shaved my head, then offered a sacrifice.
