Sayyiduna al-Faltan bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the mosque when his gaze fixed upon a man walking in the mosque, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O so-and-so!" He said: At your service, O Messenger of Allah. (The narrator said:) And whenever he spoke he would only say: "O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you read the Torah?" He said: Yes, and the Injil too. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And the Qur'an?" He said: By the One in whose hand is my soul, if I wished I could read it too. The narrator said: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) adjured him and asked: "Do you find me in the Torah and the Injil?" He said: I find you, your appearance and the place of your emergence just like that; and we used to hope that he (the awaited prophet) would be from among us. When you emerged, we wondered whether you might be him; then we considered, and you are not him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why is that?" He said: Because with that prophet there will be seventy thousand of his Ummah who will enter Paradise without reckoning and without punishment, whereas with you there are only a few people. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, I am he, and those of my Ummah are more than seventy thousand and another seventy thousand."

Sayyiduna al-Faltan bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when his gaze fixed upon a man. He called him, and a full-grown man from the Jews came forward, wearing a shirt, trousers and a pair of sandals, and began saying: O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He refused. Whatever he said, he would only say: "O Messenger of Allah," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" and he kept refusing. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you read the Torah?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And the Injil?" He said: Yes, and the Furqan (the Qur'an) too; by the Lord of Muhammad, if you wish I will recite it as well. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I ask you by the One who revealed the Torah and the Injil and who created everything: do you not find me in them both?" He said: Yes, we find a description like your description, that he will emerge from the place of your emergence, so much so that we used to hope he would be from among us. When you emerged, we thought that you were him; then when we considered, you are not him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why?" He said: We find that seventy thousand of that prophet's Ummah will enter Paradise without reckoning, whereas you are only a few. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned (to us) and proclaimed the takbir and the tahlil twice, then said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, I am he, and my Ummah is more than seventy thousand and another seventy thousand."

Sayyiduna al-Faltan bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when revelation came down upon him. Whenever revelation came down upon him, his gaze would not turn aside, his eyes would remain open, and his hearing, sight and heart would be wholly devoted to what was coming from Allah. When the revelation was complete, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the scribe: "Write: 'Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home) and those who strive in the way of Allah' [Surah al-Nisa: 95]." At this a blind man stood up and said: What is our fault? Then revelation came down upon him again. We said to the blind man: Revelation is coming down upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So he remained standing, saying: I repent to Allah. When the revelation was complete, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Write: 'except those who are disabled' [Surah al-Nisa: 95]."

Sayyiduna al-Faltan bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with those of the Bedouins who came to him, and we sat waiting for him. He came out with signs of anger on his face, and sat for a long time without speaking. Then he said: "I came out to you when the Night of Decree and the Messiah of misguidance (the misleading Messiah, the Dajjal) had been made clear to me, and I came out to make it clear to you and give you glad tidings of it. Then at the door of the mosque I found two men quarrelling, with Satan along with them, and I intervened between them; because of this it was made to slip from my memory and was snatched from me. But I will certainly give you some hint of it."
