Sayyiduna al-Faltan bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when his gaze fixed upon a man. He called him, and a full-grown man from the Jews came forward, wearing a shirt, trousers and a pair of sandals, and began saying: O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He refused. Whatever he said, he would only say: "O Messenger of Allah," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" and he kept refusing. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you read the Torah?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And the Injil?" He said: Yes, and the Furqan (the Qur'an) too; by the Lord of Muhammad, if you wish I will recite it as well. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I ask you by the One who revealed the Torah and the Injil and who created everything: do you not find me in them both?" He said: Yes, we find a description like your description, that he will emerge from the place of your emergence, so much so that we used to hope he would be from among us. When you emerged, we thought that you were him; then when we considered, you are not him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why?" He said: We find that seventy thousand of that prophet's Ummah will enter Paradise without reckoning, whereas you are only a few. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned (to us) and proclaimed the takbir and the tahlil twice, then said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, I am he, and my Ummah is more than seventy thousand and another seventy thousand."
