Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A man died and it was said to him: 'What deeds did you do?' He said: 'I used to trade with people, I was lenient regarding shortfalls in the coinage, and I gave respite to the one in hardship.' So he died and entered Paradise." At this Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I too heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Will you not narrate to us the hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When the Dajjal emerges, he will have fire and water with him. What the people see as fire will in reality be water, and what the people see as water will be fire. So whoever of you lives to see that, let him fall into what he sees as fire, for it will be sweet, cool water." And Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I also heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "There was a man among those before you to whom the angel came to take his soul. It was said to him: 'Have you ever done any good?' He said: 'I do not know.' It was said: 'Think.' He said: 'I know of nothing except that in the world I used to trade with people and be lenient with them; I gave respite to the one in hardship and forgave the one who was well-off.' So Allah admitted him into Paradise." And I also heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Death came to a man, and when he despaired of life he instructed his family: 'When I die, gather a great deal of firewood for me, then look for a windy day and scatter me in the sea.' So they did that. Allah gathered him together and said: 'Why did you do that?' He said: 'Out of fear of You.' So Allah forgave him." Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I too heard this hadith from him (peace and blessings be upon him).
