Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The first things Allah Almighty created were the Pen and the fish (Nun). The Pen asked: What shall I write? Allah Almighty said: Everything that is to be until the Day of Resurrection." Then he recited this verse: "Nun. By the Pen." So Nun means the fish, and the Pen means the pen.
Imam al-Tabarani (may Allah have mercy on him) says: No one narrated it from Hammad bin Zayd as a marfu' (Prophetic) report except Mu'ammal bin Isma'il.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Since you did what you did, you have left some resentments among us. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They will not attain goodness until they love you for the sake of Allah and because of my kinship. Shall Salhab (a group) of the tribe of Murad hope for my intercession, while Banu Abd al-Muttalib do not hope for it?"

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: One day we woke in the morning and the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were weeping, and with each one of them were members of her family. I went out to the mosque and saw that it was full of people. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came and went up to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who was in an upper room, and greeted him with salam, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not answer. He asked: Have you divorced your wives? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, but I have taken an oath of ila' (to stay away from them)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed (away) for twenty-nine days, then came down to his family.
