Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12176 — Sayyiduna Abbas came to the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا الْغَلَابِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: جَاءَ الْعَبَّاسُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّكَ تَرَكْتَ فِينَا ضَغَائِنَ مُنْذُ صَنَعْتَ الَّذِي صَنَعْتَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا يَبْلُغُوا الْخَيْرَ حَتَّى يُحِبُّوكُمْ لِلَّهِ وَلِقَرَابَتِي، أَتَرْجُو سلهبُ شَفَاعَتِي حَيٌّ مِنْ مُرَادٍ، وَلَا يَرْجُوهَا بَنُو عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Since you did what you did, you have left some resentments among us. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They will not attain goodness until they love you for the sake of Allah and because of my kinship. Shall Salhab (a group) of the tribe of Murad hope for my intercession, while Banu Abd al-Muttalib do not hope for it?"
