Whoever walks towards the authority of Allah intending to humiliate it, Allah will humiliate him, in addition to the disgrace He has stored up for him on the Day of Resurrection. The authority of Allah is the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet. Whoever among the rulers of the Muslims takes charge of any matter and appoints a man over the people while knowing that there is someone among them more deserving of it and more knowledgeable of the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, has betrayed Allah, His Messenger and all the believers. Whoever abandons the needs of the people, Allah will not attend to his need until he fulfils their needs and gives them their right. Whoever consumes one dirham of usury (riba), it is equal to committing fornication thirty-three times. And whoever's flesh has grown from the unlawful, the Fire is more deserving of him."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one takes charge of any office except that well-being is spread out for him. The narrator said: I asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): What does 'khafara 'anha' mean? He said: "That he seeks out slips and matters that are meant to be concealed."
