حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «عِيَادَةُ الْمَرِيضِ أَوَّلَ يَوْمٍ سُنَّةٌ وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ تَطَوُّعٌ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Visiting the sick on the first day is a Sunnah, and after that it is voluntary (optional)."
