Umayr bin Sa'id said: Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) taught me the tashahhud; then he mentioned the words of the tashahhud, then (he also taught this supplication): "O Allah, I ask You for every good, that which I know and that which I do not know. O Allah, I ask You for the good that Your righteous servants asked You for, and I seek refuge in You from the evil from which Your righteous servants sought refuge. O Allah, our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

Umayr bin Sa'id said: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: When one of you sits in the prayer, let him say: al-Tahiyyat (All acts of worship) - then he mentioned the words of the tashahhud - then he said: Then let him say: "O Allah, I ask You for every good, that which I know and that which I do not know, and I seek refuge in You from every evil, that which I know and that which I do not know. O Allah, I ask You for the good that Your righteous servants asked You for, and I seek refuge in You from the evil from which Your righteous servants sought refuge. Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us our sins, remove from us our misdeeds, and cause us to die among the righteous. Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection; indeed, You do not fail in Your promise."
Hadith Referenceالمعجم الكبير للطبراني / باب العين / 9905
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was given comprehensive words. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us what to say in the prayer when we sit: "All reverences, prayers and pure words are for Allah alone. O Prophet, peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah." Then after that, let him ask for whatever he wishes and turn eagerly towards Allah's mercy and forgiveness - these are a few brief words; he would not prolong the sitting with them. And he used to say: I would love that when one of you sits in the prayer and completes the tashahhud, he then says: (O Allah,) You are free of all imperfection; there is no deity other than You. Forgive me my sin and set right my deeds; indeed, You forgive sins for whomever You will, and You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. O Oft-Forgiving, forgive me. O Accepter of repentance, accept my repentance. O Most Gracious, have mercy on me. O Pardoner, pardon me. O Most Kind, be kind to me. O my Lord, enable me to give thanks for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me, and clothe me in the garment of excellent worship of You. O my Lord, I ask You for every good, and I seek refuge in You from every evil. O my Lord, open for me with good and seal for me with good, and grant me a longing to meet You, without any harmful affliction or misleading trial, and protect me from evil deeds; and whomever You protect from evil deeds, You have indeed had mercy upon him, and that is the great success. Then whatever supplication you make, let it be with humility and sincerity, for Allah loves His servant's humility before Him.
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) would stand at midday when the sun had risen high and pray four rak'ahs, in which he would recite long and short surahs. Then, after waiting a little, he would pray the Zuhr prayer, prolonging the standing in its first two rak'ahs, reciting in them two surahs: Alif Lam Mim Tanzil al-Sajdah and a similar surah from the Mathani. When he had prayed Zuhr, he would pray two rak'ahs after it. Then he would wait until, when the sun began to decline while a good part of the day still remained, he would pray the Asr prayer, reciting in its first two rak'ahs two surahs from the Mathani or the Mufassal, shorter than those he had recited in Zuhr. After praying Asr, he would pray no other prayer until the sun set. When he saw the sun had set, he would pray the Maghrib prayer, which you call Isha, reciting in it short surahs of the Mufassal such as 'Wa al-layli idha yaghsha' and 'Sabbih isma rabbika al-a'la', or similar surahs, then he would pray two rak'ahs after it. He would swear an oath about this prayer such as he swore about no other prayer: By Allah, besides Whom there is no deity, this time is the appointed time of this prayer. And he would say that its confirmation is this verse: "Establish the prayer from the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night, and the recitation at dawn; indeed, the recitation at dawn is ever witnessed" [Surah al-Isra: 78] - and this is the prayer which you call the morning prayer, and at that time the two guards (the angels of the night and of the day) gather. He found it hard to hear anyone speaking at that time except in the remembrance of Allah and the recitation of the Qur'an. Then after that he would wait until he prayed Isha, which you call al-Atamah, reciting in it the closing part of Surah Al Imran, from "Inna fi khalqi al-samawati wa al-ard" (Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth) to its end, and the closing part of Surah al-Furqan, from "Tabaraka alladhi ja'ala fi al-sama'i buruja" (Blessed is He Who has placed great stars in the sky) [Surah al-Furqan: 61] to its end, slowly and with a beautiful voice, and he would say: Reciting the Qur'an with a beautiful voice is its adornment. If he did not recite the closing parts of these two, he would recite similar surahs from the Mathani or the Mufassal. After praying Isha, he would pray two rak'ahs after it. After any obligatory prayer he would pray only two rak'ahs, except for Jumu'ah, after which he would pray four rak'ahs. Then, when it was the last part of the night, he would stand and pray the witr prayer as much as Allah had decreed, sometimes nine rak'ahs, sometimes seven, or more than that. Then, when the dawn began to break and the horizon became visible while the darkness of the night still remained, he would stand and pray the Fajr prayer, reciting in it two long surahs: Surah al-Ra'd and a similar surah from the Mathani, until it was almost thought that the morning had become bright. He would say the takbir at every movement of the prayer until he stood for it. When he raised his head he would say: "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah" (Allah hears the one who praises Him), then stand upright and praise and glorify his Lord. Then he would say the takbir for the prostration until he fell down in prostration. Then he would say the takbir when raising his head, then sit upright and praise and glorify his Lord. Then he would say the takbir for the second prostration, then say the takbir when raising his head from it, then say the takbir (to stand up), then rise from the sitting. When he completed his prayer, he would give the salam twice without looking around or gesturing with his hand, then he would head towards his need, whether it was on his right or on his left. When he stood for the prayer, he would be humble in both his voice and his body. While standing, most of what he said was glorification, and his glorification was: (O Allah,) You are free of all imperfection; there is no deity except You - he never tired of it.
