Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) brought his father Abu Quhafah, who was a blind old man, leading him by the hand to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Why did you not leave the old man, so that we could have come to him ourselves?" He said: I wanted him to receive reward (for this walk). By Allah, my joy at Abu Talib's accepting Islam would have been greater than my joy at my father's accepting Islam; by that I sought the coolness of your eyes. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have spoken the truth."
