عثمان بن عامر بن كعب بن سعد بن تيم بن مرة بن كعب بن لؤي بن غالب بن فهر بن مالك أبو قحافة " أسلم يوم الفتح، وتوفي سنة أربع عشرة بعد أبي بكر بسنة، وهو ابن سبع وتسعين سنة، وورث أبا بكر هو وأمه سلمى بنت صخر بن عامر بن عمرو بن كعب بن سعد بن تيم بن مرة "
Uthman bin Amir bin Kab bin Sad bin Taym bin Murrah bin Kab bin Luayy bin Ghalib bin Fihr bin Malik Abu Quhafah (may Allah be pleased with him); he accepted Islam on the day of the Conquest and died in the year 14, one year after Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), at the age of 97; he and Abu Bakr's mother Salma bint Sakhr bin Amir bin Amr bin Kab bin Sad bin Taym bin Murrah inherited from Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْعُكْبَرِيُّ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ الْبُورَانِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ الْعَمِّيِّ، عَنْ مَطَرِ بْنِ طَهْمَانَ الْوَرَّاقِ يُكْنَى بِأَبِي رَجَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ الْعُطَارِدِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: جِيءَ بِأَبِي قُحَافَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَرَأْسُهُ وَلِحْيَتُهُ كَأَنَّهَا ثَغَامَةٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اذْهَبُوا بِهِ إِلَى بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ يُغَيِّرْنَهُ» ، قَالَ: فَذَهَبُوا بِهِ فَحَمَّرُوهَا
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Abu Quhafah was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and his head and beard were as though they were white grass, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take him to one of his womenfolk so that they may dye it." The narrator said: So they took him and they dyed it red.
