Sayyiduna Dirar bin al-Azwar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me — or by a man who was milking — and said: "Leave a little milk rather than squeezing it out completely." Sufyan al-Thawri narrated it thus from al-A'mash, from Abdullah bin Sinan, while the other students of al-A'mash differed with him and narrated it from al-A'mash, from Ya'qub bin Bahir.

Dirar bin al-Azwar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Stretch out your hand so that I may pledge allegiance to you on Islam. Then I recited these verses: I have left the gaming arrows and the music of the singing girls — and wine too, for the sake of prostration and humble supplication (I have left them)
and my charging my adorned horse into the thick of battle — and my attacking the Muslims in fighting (I have left too)
O my Lord, let my pledge not end in loss — for I have sold my family and my wealth in exchange for it
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Dirar, your pledge has not ended in loss."

O my Lord, let my pledge not end in loss, for I have sold my soul and my family in exchange for it."
