حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، ثنا مَاجِدُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ، ثنا أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ ضِرَارِ بْنِ الْأَزْوَرِ قَالَ: وَفَدْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا وَقَفْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَنْشُدُكْ، قَالَ: «أَنْشِدْ» . قَالَ: قُلْتُ:

جَعَلْتُ الْقِدَاحَ، وَعَزْفَ الْقِيَانِ ... وَالْخَمْرَ تَصْلِيَةً وَابْتِهَالَا
وَكَرِّي الْمُحَبَّرَ فِي غَمْرَةٍ ... وَشَدِّي عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ الْقِتَالَا
فَيَا رَبِّ لَا أُغْبَنَنْ بَيْعَتِي ... فَقَدْ بِعْتُ نَفْسِي وَأَهِلِّي بَدَالَا
ضَحَّاكُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْفِهْرِيُّ الْقُرَشِيُّ «أَخُو فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ، يُكْنَى أَبَا سَعِيدٍ هُوَ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ قَيْسِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ وَهْبِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ شَيْبَانَ بْنِ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ فِهْرِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ، وَأُمُّهُ أُمَيْمَةُ بِنْتُ رَبِيعَةَ مِنْ كِنَانَةَ، وَهِي أُمُّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ، أُخْتُ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، قُتِلَ الضَّحَّاكُ يَوْمَ مَرْجِ رَاهِطٍ، بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، لَمَّا بُويِعَ لِمَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَسِتِّينَ»

ضَحَّاكُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْفِهْرِيُّ الْقُرَشِيُّ «أَخُو فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ، يُكْنَى أَبَا سَعِيدٍ هُوَ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ قَيْسِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ وَهْبِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ شَيْبَانَ بْنِ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ فِهْرِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ، وَأُمُّهُ أُمَيْمَةُ بِنْتُ رَبِيعَةَ مِنْ كِنَانَةَ، وَهِي أُمُّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ، أُخْتُ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، قُتِلَ الضَّحَّاكُ يَوْمَ مَرْجِ رَاهِطٍ، بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، لَمَّا بُويِعَ لِمَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَسِتِّينَ»
Sayyiduna Dirar bin al-Azwar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as part of a delegation, and when I stood before him (peace and blessings be upon him) I said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I recite verses to you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite." I said:

"I turned the gaming arrows, the singing and music, and wine (by abandoning them) into worship and supplication. And the charging of my adorned horse into the thick of battle, and my severity against the Muslims in fighting (I have also left). O my Lord, let my pledge not end in loss, for I have sold my soul and my family in exchange for it."
Al-Dahhak bin Qays al-Fihri al-Qurashi, the brother of Sayyidah Fatimah bint Qays, whose kunyah was Abu Sa'id: he is al-Dahhak bin Qays bin Khalid bin Wahb bin Tha'labah bin Wathilah bin Amr bin Shayban bin Muharib bin Fihr bin Malik bin al-Nadr bin Kinanah. His mother was Umaymah bint Rabi'ah of Kinanah, and she was also the mother of Sayyidah Fatimah bint Qays, the sister of al-Dahhak bin Qays. Al-Dahhak was killed on the day of Marj Rahit, after the death of Yazid bin Mu'awiyah, when allegiance was given to Marwan bin al-Hakam in the year 64 AH.
