Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Fever sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to come in, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked it: "Who are you?" It said: I am fever; I melt away the flesh and suck the blood. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go to the people of Quba." So it went to them. They came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with their faces turned pale, and complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about the fever. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As you wish: if you wish, I will supplicate to Allah to remove it from you; and if you wish, leave it, so that it may cause the rest of your sins to fall away." They said: O Messenger of Allah! Rather, leave it be.

So-and-so and so-and-so came to you, and you answered them better than you answered me? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You left nothing remaining in the greeting. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: 'And when you are greeted with a greeting, respond with one better than it or return it' [Surah al-Nisa: 86], so I returned the same greeting to you."

Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: On the Day of Resurrection the sun will be given the heat of ten years, then it will be brought close to people's skulls - then the narrator mentioned the (rest of the) hadith - he said: Then the people will come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and say: O Prophet of Allah! You are the one through whom Allah opened (the religion), and He has forgiven you your past and future sins, and you see the state we are in, so intercede for us with our Lord. He (peace and blessings be upon him) will say: "I am your (interceding) companion." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) will go out, driving the people (along with him), until he reaches the gate of Paradise; he will take hold of a ring of gold on the gate and knock on the gate. It will be asked: Who is this? It will be said: Muhammad. So the gate will be opened for him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) will go forward until he stands before Allah and prostrates. A call will come: Raise your head; ask and you will be given, and intercede and your intercession will be accepted. That is the Praised Station (al-Maqam al-Mahmud).
