حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَيْدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْحَوْطِيُّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ عَبْدُ الْقُدُّوسِ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ، ثنا حَرِيزُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ جَحَّاشٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَصَقَ يَوْمًا عَلَى كَفِّهِ، فَوَضَعَ عَلَيْهَا إِصْبَعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: " يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ: لَنْ تُعْجِزَنِي، وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا سَوَّيْتُكَ، وَعَدَّلْتُكَ، مَشَيْتَ بَيْنَ بُرْدَيْنِ، وَلِلْأَرْضِ مِنْكَ، وَئِيدٌ فَجَمَعْتَ وَصَنَعْتَ، حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ، التَّرَاقِيَ، قُلْتَ: أَتَصَدَّقُ وَأَنَّى أَوَانُ الصَّدَقَةِ؟ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Busr bin Jahhash al-Qurashi (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spat on his palm, then placed his finger on it and said: "O son of Adam, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: You cannot escape Me, and I created you from the like of this. Then, when I fashioned you and proportioned you, you walked about between two cloaks, and the earth resounded under your steps. So you amassed (wealth) and made (things), until, when (the soul) reached the collarbones, you said: I will give charity. But where now is the time for charity?"
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الرَّحَبِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ جَحَّاشٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ فَبَصَقَ فِيهَا فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ يَقُولُ: كَيْفَ تُعْجِزُنِي ابْنَ آدَمَ، وَإِنَّما خَلَقْتُكَ مِنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ، فَسَوَّيْتُكَ، وَعَدَّلْتُكَ، وَمَشَيْتَ بَيْنَ بُرْدَيْنِ، وَلِلْأَرْضِ مِنْكَ وَئِيدٌ، فَجَمَعْتَ وَمَنَعْتَ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ، قُلْتَ: أَتَصَدَّقُ، الْآنَ وَأَنَّى أَوَانُ الصَّدَقَةِ؟ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Busr bin Jahhash (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) brought out his hand, spat in it, then looked at it and said: "Allah says: O son of Adam, how can you escape Me, when I created you from the like of this, then fashioned you and proportioned you? Then you walked about between two cloaks, and the earth resounded under your steps. So you amassed (wealth) and withheld it, until, when (the soul) reached the collarbones, you said: Now I will give charity. But where now is the time for charity?"
