Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 7351 — I went early in the morning to Sayyiduna

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مَنْدَهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ نا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ثنا الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَنَابٍ الْكَلْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، قَالَ: غَدَوْتُ إِلَى صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيِّ، أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، فَقَالَ: «كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ يَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نمْسَحَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَيَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ لِلْمُقِيمِ» ، وَسَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ يَقُولُ: «مَنْ غَدَا فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ، وَضَعَتْ لَهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا»
Zirr bin Hubaysh (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I went early in the morning to Sayyiduna Safwan bin Assal al-Muradi (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask him about wiping over the leather socks, and he said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order us to wipe for three days and nights on a journey, and a day and a night for the resident." And I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever goes out early in the morning in search of knowledge, the angels spread their wings for him."
