Samurah bin Miyar Abu Mahdhurah al-Jumahi (may Allah be pleased with him), the muezzin of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he is Samurah bin Miyar bin Wahb bin Dumus bin Sad bin Jumah; his name is disputed, and Ibn al-Kalbi said his name was Aws bin Miyar

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ رُفَيْعٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مَحْذُورَةَ يَقُولُ: كُنْتُ غُلَامًا صَبِيًّا، فَأَذَّنْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ، فَلَمَّا انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، قَالَ لِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلْحِقْ فِيهَا: الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ "
Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was a young boy, and I gave the adhan before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Hunayn. When I reached "Hayya 'ala al-salah, hayya 'ala al-falah," the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Add this to it as well: Al-salatu khayrun min al-nawm (Prayer is better than sleep)."
