سمرة بن معير أبو محذورة الجمحي مؤذن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وهو سمرة بن معير بن وهب بن دعموص بن سعد بن جمح، وقد اختلف في اسمه قال ابن الكلبي: اسمه أوس بن معير
Samurah bin Miyar Abu Mahdhurah al-Jumahi (may Allah be pleased with him), the muezzin of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he is Samurah bin Miyar bin Wahb bin Dumus bin Sad bin Jumah; his name is disputed, and Ibn al-Kalbi said his name was Aws bin Miyar

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أُؤَذِّنُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ، فَأَقُولُ إِذَا قُلْتُ فِي الْأَذَانِ الْأَوَّلِ: «حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ، الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I used to give the adhan for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for the Fajr prayer, and in the first adhan, when I had said "Hayya 'ala al-falah," I would say: "Al-salatu khayrun min al-nawm, al-salatu khayrun min al-nawm (Prayer is better than sleep)."
