Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Malik bin Ju'shum (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, tell us: is this Umrah of ours for this year only, or forever? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, forever." He said: O Messenger of Allah, tell us about our deeds as though we had just been created: are they something that has been written in the Book and that the decrees have settled, or something new that we begin? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather it is something that has been written in the Book and that the decrees have settled." He said: O Messenger of Allah, then what is the point of deeds? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep doing deeds, for each person is made easy for that for which he was created."
