It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khuraym bin Fatik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People are of four kinds, and deeds are of six kinds. Among them are those who are given ample means in both this world and the Hereafter; those who are given ample means in this world and kept in straitness in the Hereafter; those who are kept in straitness in this world and given ample means in the Hereafter; and those who are wretched in both this world and the Hereafter. And deeds: two that make (something) obligatory, one that is like for like, one that is tenfold, and one that is seven hundredfold. The two that make obligatory are these: whoever dies in a state of not associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise, and whoever dies associating partners with Allah will enter Hell. Whoever intends an evil deed but does not do it, one good deed is written for him; and whoever does it, one evil deed is written against him. Whoever intends a good deed but does not do it, one good deed is also written for him; and if he does it, it is written for him tenfold. And spending in the way of Allah is (multiplied) seven hundredfold."
