It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khuraym bin Fatik al-Asadi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People are of four kinds and deeds are of six kinds. (Among people) there is one who has ample means in both this world and the Hereafter; one who has ample means in this world and straitness in the Hereafter; one who has straitness in this world and ample means in the Hereafter; and one who is wretched in both this world and the Hereafter. And deeds are: two that make (something) obligatory, one that is like for like, one that is tenfold, and one that is seven hundredfold. The two that make obligatory are these: whoever dies as a Muslim or a believer, not associating anything with Allah, Paradise becomes obligatory for him; and whoever dies a disbeliever, Hell becomes obligatory for him. Whoever intends a good deed but does not do it, and Allah knows that he felt it in his heart and was eager for it, one good deed is written for him and it is not multiplied. Whoever intends an evil deed but does not do it, nothing is written against him; and whoever does it, only one evil deed is written against him and it is not multiplied. Whoever does a good deed, ten times its like is written for him; and whoever spends something in the way of Allah, he is given seven hundredfold (reward)."
