Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 3151 — I said to Jabir bin Zayd

Amr bin Dinar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I said to Jabir bin Zayd (may Allah have mercy on him): People claim that "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating the flesh of domestic donkeys." He said: Sayyiduna al-Hakam bin Amr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) used to narrate exactly that among us from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), but "al-Bahr" (the Ocean of knowledge), that is, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), rejected it and recited this verse: "Say: I do not find, in what has been revealed to me, anything forbidden."
