Sayyiduna al-Hakam bin Hazn al-Kulafi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a delegation, as the seventh of seven or the ninth of nine. Permission was sought for us, so we went in to him and said: O Messenger of Allah, we have come to visit you so that you may supplicate for good for us. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for good for us, and he gave an order concerning us and we were given lodging, and he ordered that we be given some dates; and conditions in those days were hard. We stayed there for several days, and during that time we attended the Friday prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) stood leaning on a bow or a staff, and praised and extolled Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, with a few light, pure and blessed words. Then he said: "O people, you will never be able to bear it, nor will you be able to do exactly as you have been commanded; but keep to the right course and receive glad tidings."
