Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: A son of mine died while my husband (Sayyiduna Abu Talhah, may Allah be pleased with him) was away, so I got up and covered him in a corner of the house. Then my husband came, so I got up and put on perfume for him, and he came to me. Then I brought him food and he began to eat. I said: Do you not find what happened with our neighbours astonishing? He asked: What happened to them? I said: Something was lent to them, and when it was asked back from them, they became distressed. He said: What they did was wrong. I said: This is your son (who has died). He said: Surely you will not outdo me in patience tonight. When morning came, he went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, bless them in this night of theirs." The narrator said: After that I saw seven of their children in the mosque, all of whom had read the Qur'an.
