It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her), the mother of Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), that she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the house of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and some people were sitting with him (peace and blessings be upon him). I sat until they left, then I said: O Messenger of Allah! I am not shy of asking about anything that gives me understanding of my religion and brings me closer to Allah. O Messenger of Allah! Tell me, if a woman sees in a dream what a man sees, should she take a ritual bath (ghusl)? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When she sees water (wetness), she should take a ritual bath." Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: May your hands be covered in dust, O Umm Sulaym! You have disgraced women. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, may your hands be covered in dust! If that were not so, why would a child resemble its mother?"
