Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the tribulations and described them as very great and severe. Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the way out of them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Book of Allah. In it is the news of those before you, the tidings of what will come after you, and the judgement of what is between you. Whatever tyrant abandons it, Allah breaks him; and whoever seeks guidance in something other than it, Allah leads him astray. It is the firm rope of Allah, it is the wise Reminder, it is the straight path. It is the one which, when the jinn heard it, they said: 'Indeed, we have heard a wondrous Qur'an' [Al-Jinn: 1]. It is such that tongues do not differ concerning it, and much repetition does not make it worn out."
