حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثنا كَامِلُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّ كَرْدَمَ بْنَ سُفْيَانَ الثَّقَفِيَّ، أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ أَنْ أَنْحَرَ ذُودَ إِبِلٍ بِبُوَانَةَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَلَى وَثَنٍ؟» ، فَقَالَ: لَا، فَقَالَ: «أَعَلَى جَمَعٍ مِنْ جُمُوعِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ؟» ، قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: «أَوْفِ بِنَذْرِكَ حَيْثُ كَانَ، يَا كَرْدَمُ إِنَّهُ لَا نَذْرَ وَلَا يَمِينَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ»
Sayyiduna Kardam bin Sufyan al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have vowed to slaughter a small herd of camels at Buwanah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "At an idol?" He said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At one of the gatherings of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance)?" He said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then fulfil your vow wherever it may be. O Kardam, there is no vow and no oath in disobedience to Allah."
