Mahmud bin al-Rabi' al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I remember the mouthful of water that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spat onto my face from a bucket hanging in our house.
Mahmud says: Sayyiduna Itban bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) told me; he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, my eyesight has become poor, and when the rains are heavy the valley floods and comes between me and the prayer in the mosque of my people; so would you pray at some place in my mosque which I may take as a place of prayer? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." So the next day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, bringing Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) with him. They both asked permission and I gave them both permission. Without sitting down he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Where in your house would you like me to pray?" I pointed to a corner, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stepped forward; we formed a row behind him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed. And we kept the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for some khazirah that we had made for him (peace and blessings be upon him).
