Mahmud bin al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away he was five years old, and he remembers the mouthful of water that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spat onto his face from a bucket hanging in their house.
Mahmud says: Sayyiduna Itban bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me that he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, when it rains my eyesight grows weak, and the flood of the valley that lies between my home and the mosque of my people comes between me and the prayer. So, O Messenger of Allah, I would like you to come to me and pray at some place in my house which I may take as a place of prayer. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Very well." Itban says: The next day he (peace and blessings be upon him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked permission and I gave him permission. Without sitting down he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Where in your house would you like me to pray?" I pointed to a corner of my house, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir, and we formed a row behind him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs, then said the salam.
