Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 1304 — arrogance was mentioned in the presence

Sayyiduna Thabit bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that arrogance was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he spoke severely about it and said: "Indeed, Allah does not love everyone who is arrogant and boastful." Thereupon a man among the people said: By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I wash my clothes and their whiteness pleases me, and the strap of my sandal and the cord of my whip also please me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is not arrogance; arrogance is only that you belittle the truth and look down on people."
