قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - سُئِلَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ ، وَهُوَ شَاهِدٌ : الَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ إِلا اللَّمَمَ
قَالَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - : هِيَ النَّظْرَةُ وَالْغَمْزَةُ وَالْقُبْلَةُ وَالْمُبَاشَرَةُ ، فَإِذَا مَسَّ الْخِتَانُ الْخِتَانَ فَهُوَ الزِّنَا ، وَقَدْ وَجَبَ الْغُسْلُ .
قَالَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - : هِيَ النَّظْرَةُ وَالْغَمْزَةُ وَالْقُبْلَةُ وَالْمُبَاشَرَةُ ، فَإِذَا مَسَّ الْخِتَانُ الْخِتَانَ فَهُوَ الزِّنَا ، وَقَدْ وَجَبَ الْغُسْلُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding this statement of Allah Almighty: "Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, except for minor lapses (al-lamam)" [Surah al-Najm: 32], that he was asked about the meaning of this noble verse, and he said: "It (lamam, that is, minor sins) refers to al-nazrah, 'looking at a non-mahram', al-ghamzah, 'winking or signalling', al-qublah, 'kissing', and al-mubasharah, 'bodily contact or embracing'. But when 'the circumcised part touches the circumcised part', that is, the private parts of the man and the woman meet, then that is called zina (fornication), and in that case the ritual bath (ghusl) becomes obligatory."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، قَالَ : إِنَّ عُمَرَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - قَرَأَ النَّجْمَ ، فَسَجَدَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ ، فَقَرَأَ سُورَةً أُخْرَى .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): "The Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), recited Surah al-Najm and prostrated (at the verse of prostration); then he stood up again and recited another surah."

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، ثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ ، عَنْ جُوَيْبِرٍ ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - :
إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَى قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : رَأَيْتُهَا حَتَّى اسْتَثْبَتُّهَا ، ثُمَّ حَالَ دُونَهَا فَرَاشُ الذَّهَبِ .
إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَى قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : رَأَيْتُهَا حَتَّى اسْتَثْبَتُّهَا ، ثُمَّ حَالَ دُونَهَا فَرَاشُ الذَّهَبِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding this statement of Allah Almighty: "When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered it" [Surah al-Najm: 16], that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw it (the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary) until I had recognised it well and fixed it in my mind; then moths of gold came between me and it and began to cover it."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، ثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ الدَّيْلَمِ ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - : وَأَنْتُمْ سَامِدُونَ قَالَ : كَانُوا يَمُرُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَامِخِينَ ، أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الْفَحْلِ كَيْفَ يَخْطِرُ شَامِخًا ؟ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding this statement of Allah Almighty: "While you are proudly heedless" [Surah al-Najm: 61], that he said in its explanation: "They (the polytheists) used to pass by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with extreme arrogance and haughtiness, their necks held stiff. Have you not seen a powerful stallion camel, how it struts proudly and vaingloriously with its head raised high and its neck stretched?"
