Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3730 — Surah al-Tur

Khalid bin Ar'arah narrates from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that another man stood up and said: Tell me about what I want to ask you. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Ask me about something that is beneficial and not harmful." He asked: "What is meant by the raised roof, 'And by the roof raised high' [Surah al-Tur: 5]?" He said: "It refers to the heaven." He asked again: "What is meant by the frequented house, 'And by the much-frequented House' [Surah al-Tur: 4]?" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) asked those present with him: "What do you say about it?" They said: "It refers to this House, that is, the Ka'bah." He said: "No, rather it is a house in the heaven, directly above the House of Allah (the Ka'bah) and in line with it, called al-Durah. Its sanctity in the heaven is like the sanctity of this House (the Ka'bah) on earth. Every day seventy thousand angels enter it (for worship), and then (because of the great number of angels) their turn never comes again."
